Qualcomm has unveiled its much-awaited Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 chipset, which will power mid-range devices in the coming time. Since AI is the area of focus in 2024, the newly arrived chipset also bets big on it by including on-device Generative AI capabilities. So, without wasting any more time, let’s take a closer look at Qualcomm’s latest SoC offering.
Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3: Key Features
According to the company, the latest chipset is the most powerful Snapdragon 7-series yet, and it comes with Generative AI support, artistic capture with an 18-bit cognitive ISP, supercharged mobile gaming, and more.
There’s a new Artistic Capture feature, which uses the Qualcomm Spectra 18-bit Triple Cognitive ISP series, offering vivid detail up to 200MP and exceptional editing tools. Semantic Segmentation allows instant optimisation of individual frame layers for better quality. In terms of videos, the chipset offers Video Super Resolution (VSR) for smart zoom capabilities.
It comes with on-device generative AI designed to enhance productivity and creativity. It will support AI-powered virtual assistants and various leading large language models (LLMs) and large vision models (LVMs). Interestingly, the chipset will also support multi-language translation and transcription for easy access to international entertainment.
The technical details include a Kyro CPU, which has a prime core (2.8GHz), 4 performance cores, and 3 efficiency cores. This is clubbed with an Adreno GPU. The chipset also supports the Snapdragon X63 5G Moden-RF System, Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System, LP-DDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and more.
As for gaming, the new Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 packs the all-new Game Post Processing Accelerator, which enhances visual effects like bloom, depth, and motion blur. It also features a new Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, which boosts content at twice the framerate without draining the power.
Regarding audio capabilities, the chipset features the Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio, which claims to keep your music lossless over Bluetooth connectivity. There’s also this Spatial Audio with smart head tracking, which is expected to deliver low motion-to-sound latency.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset will power devices from OnePlus, Realme, and more in the coming months.
