As per the Google Play policy, a user can get a refund for the app or game purchase via Google Play within 48 hours of purchase. How to Request a Refund on the Google Play Website

If you have purchased an app or a game and if it’s less than 48 hours since you bought it. You can request a refund through Google Play. Follow the below steps to get a refund.

  1. On your Computer, go to Google Play Store Account

  2. Select Order History
  3. Find the app/game you want to return and get a refund
  4. Select “Report a problem” and choose the option that describes your situation

  5. Complete the form and note that you’d like a refund

  6. You’ll get a message that says “Thank you for submitting your refund request” You’ll then get an email with your refund decision.
  7. Usually, Google will refund the amount back in 15 minutes but it can take up to 4 business days

How to Request a Refund on the Google Play Store App

On Google Play Store, you can get a refund for your app/game purchased within two hours.

  1. Open Google Play Store on your Android phone
  2. Tap on your profile photo in the top right corner

  4. Tap on “Budget & History”
  5. In the history list, select the app/game you want a refund for

In case you have crossed the two-hour limit, you can still get the refund within 48 hours by following the Google Play Website, which we have mentioned above.

How to Request a Refund For in-app Purchases

If it’s been less than 48 hours since you made an in-app purchase, you can request a refund through Google Play using the above two methods. In case it’s been more than 48 hours, you can contact the developer to find out if you can get a refund. Developers have their policies and legal requirements and may be able to give you a refund.

How to Request a refund For Movies, TV Shows, Music, or eBooks

There are many similarities when it comes to the returning rules for movies, TV shows, music, and e-books in the Google Play Store. The standard consensus is that you can return any product penalty-free within a week of buying it. This will afford you a full refund, as long as you haven’t downloaded or played the item. Sadly, you can’t ask for a refund through the Google Play Store app itself, so you’ll need to use your browser. Here are some simple steps:

  1. Open Google Play Store on your browser
  2. Click on “Account” on the left menu bar
  3. Select the “Order History” tab
  4. Find the movies, TV Shows, Music, or eBooks you want to return and get a refund
  5. Choose the Request a Refund option
  6. Select the appropriate reason from the drop-down list
  7. Click “Submit”
  8. Your refund request will be approved within 4 business days

Request a Fefund For Apps and Games After 48 Hours of Purchase

  1. Open Google Play Store
  2. Tap on your profile photo in the top right corner
  3. Select “Payment & Subscriptions”
  4. Tap on “Budget & History”
  5. In the history list, select the app/game you want a refund for
  6. Tap “View”
  7. Once the app/game listing is opened on the next screen, scroll down and select “Developer contact”
  8. Under “Developer contact”, click on the Email ID mentioned
  9. The email app will be opened. Explain the reason and why you’d like to get a refund politely.

In case the developer is satisfied with your reason, he/she might refund the amount back, but not everyone will agree to offer a refund, so it is best to get a refund within 48 hours.
