Samsung skipped the Galaxy A7X premium mid-range series smartphone lineup in favour of the Galaxy Fan Edition smartphones. However, Samsung has continued to launch premium mid-range smartphones under the Galaxy A5X series. The South Korean giant debuted the Galaxy A54 5G smartphone in March 2023. Galaxy Club, a Dutch media, has revealed the specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A55 smartphone.

Samsung usually offers the Galaxy A series smartphones with a rear panel design similar to the flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone. The mid-range smartphones from Samsung were the only devices in the market to debut with an IP67 rating until Moto launched the Edge 40 series with an IP68 rating. The shift of Samsung from TouchWiz to One UI had created an urge for past users to return to Samsung.

The Galaxy Club report states that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A55 smartphone is reportedly undergoing testing in the European markets. The report adds that South Korean users prefer Samsung’s in-house Exynos chipsets over Qualcomm processors. This is why Samsung shipped the Galaxy A53 smartphone with Exynos 1280 SoC – to appease its South Korean users.

The report adds that Samsung is undergoing the testing of the upcoming Galaxy A55 smartphone with an in-house chipset with the ID S5E8845. Samsung names the code name of the upcoming mid-range SoC as Rose. The chipset is tipped to be equipped with an AMD GPU to improve image processing and AI performance. To recall, the Exynos chipsets on Samsung Galaxy A53 and A54 came with the ID S5E8825 and S5E8835.

These chipsets were later announced under the Exynos 1280 and Exynos 1380 monikers. Galaxy Club suggests a high chance for Samsung to name the upcoming SoC as Exynos 1480, which will be powering the Samsung Galaxy A55 smartphone. The launch of the smartphone is quite far, however. Samsung will likely debut the smartphone in March 2024, similar to the timeline followed by the Galaxy A54 5G launch

The report further adds that Samsung will continue to stick with the 50MP primary rear cameras introduced with the Galaxy A54 smartphone. The upcoming Galaxy A series device will feature an improved sensor and software for better camera outputs. Samsung may increase the resolution of other camera sensors in the upcoming device.

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy A54 5G smartphone in an Awesome white colour option. The smartphone is priced at Rs 38,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Samsung also debuted the device in a higher variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at Rs 40,999. Samsung is also offering a flat Rs 2000 discount on the Galaxy A54 5G smartphone.
