According to various reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outer display is set to be bigger than ever. In fact, the display could be bigger than the OPPO Find N2 Flip’s cover display. Based on the leaked details, a new report has shared a mock-up of the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outer design. Let’s take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 specifications, features and other details known so far.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Cover Display Design

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to sport a big cover display. The foldable phone’s current-generation model has a 1.9-inch display. Samsung might be forced to make the change considering the likes of OPPO and Motorola have already launched clamshell-styled foldable phones with a bigger outer display. While the exact size of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover display is unknown, a new report by SamMobile has shared the mockup based on the leaked details. Citing its sources, the report reveals an image of the larger, oddly shaped outer screen. The space at the top left corner must be for the dual-camera setup and an LED flash module.

The outer display will pretty much cover as much space as possible. This bigger display will not be a good viewfinder for clicking high-resolution selfies but also perform some other tasks without having to unfold the display.

The SamMobile report stated that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover screen will be 3-4 inches in size. Some rumours suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover display will be 3.4 inches tall.

A separate report claims that Samsung will launch the upcoming foldable phones with a new waterdrop hinge instead of the U-shaped hinge. The new hinge design is said to reduce the crease’s visibility. The same report claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s weight will be reduced to 250 grams, which is 13 grams lighter than the currently available Galaxy Z Fold 4.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to feature a 6.7/6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display. It will offer support for a 120Hz refresh rate and come with a Full HD+ resolution display. A Geekbench listing revealed that the device is also going to feature a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is found in the Galaxy S23 series. The SoC has a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz and is based on a 4nm process.

The phone will boot Android 13 out of the box. It will also have a layer of One UI 5 on top. Other details about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 are under wraps. We will share more details as and when available.
