Samsung has launced its fifth generation of the Galaxy Z Fold smartphone at its event in Korea, and will launch soon in India.

Samsung just launched its fifth generation of foldables including the Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip5 at its Galaxy Unpacked event. While the event was primarily about the new foldable smartphones, the South Korean company also launched the Galaxy Watch6 and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. The new Galaxy Fold5 and the Galaxy Flip5 have been launched globally and will be coming to India soon.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5: Price, Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 comes with 12GB RAM and has three options for 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage. It will be available in colours including Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream. Samsung is also launching a range of accessories including a Slim S Pen Case, Clear Gadget Case, Eco-Leather Case, and a Standing Case with Strap.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 has been priced at USD 1,799.99 for the 256GB RAM variant, USD 1,919.99 for the 512GB RAM variant and USD 2,159.99 for the 1TB storage variant.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5: Features, Specifications

The Galaxy Fold5 is the thinnest, lightest Fold yet and features a massive 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz adaptive refresh rate 2X Infinity Flex Display with 2176 x 1812 resolution at 374 pixels per inch. The display on the cover is a 6.2-inch HD+ 120Hz adaptive refresh rate Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with 2316 x 904 resolution at 402 pixels per inch.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 brings back features like the Multi Window and App Continuity to a wide range of features including Taskbar, drag and drop, and optimization of third-party apps. S Pen Fold Edition introduced in the third generation Fold in 2021, has also been fine-tuned to deliver a superior writing experience on Galaxy Z Fold5.

The improved Taskbar enables dynamic productivity by allowing users to quickly switch between frequently used apps. Now up to four recent apps are ready and users can also use the newly enhanced two-handed drag and drop when moving content between apps and screens.

The peak brightness of the display has increased by more than 30%, up to 1750 nits. The smartphone features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 12GB RAM and storage of up to 1TB. For battery, the smartphone will run on a 4,400mAh dual battery for those massive displays with support for 25W Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 along with Wireless PowerShare. The smartphone is IPX8 and survived in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in lab conditions. It runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1 on top of it. It has a fingerprint sensor on the side panel along with support for Dual Nano SIMs and one eSIM.

For cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold5 comes with a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera of F2.2 aperture primary camera, a 50MP Dual Pixel AF Wide-angle Camera with OIS and F1.8 aperture and a 3X optical zoom 10MP Telephoto Camera with PDAF, F2.4 aperture and OIS. On the outer display, the phone has a 10MP Selfie Camera with F2.2 aperture. On the inner display, there is a 4MP Under Display Camera with F1.8 aperture.
