The rumoured PlayStation 5 Pro, aka PS5 Pro, has surfaced in a new leak offering more details about specifications and performance. Tom Warren of The Verge has reported obtaining the complete list of PS5 Pro specifications. According to the report, the upcoming console is codenamed Trinity, and developers have already received the console’s development kits.

Sony is asking developers to prepare their games for the PS5 Pro launch. It wants them to optimize games for the console, focusing on ray tracing improvements. The team has used a more powerful ray tracing architecture that can offer three times better speed than the standard PS5.

The report says games will be able to use a special “Trinity Enhanced” (PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced) label if they can “provide significant improvements”.

It appears to be similar to Microsoft’s “Optimised for Xbox Series X|S” label. This label shows that developers of those games have fully exploited the unique capabilities of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

PlayStation 5 Pro Specifications (Leaked)

The report adds that the PlayStation 5 Pro will have a faster CPU mode and more powerful GPU. This new CPU mode is said to target 3.8GHz CPU frequency, which is a 10% boost over the standard PS5 CPU frequency. Game developers will decide what CPU frequency they want to utilize.

The PS5 Pro will also bring system memory improvements for developers. It is expected to get a 28% increase at 576GB/s compared to 448GB/s on the standard PS5.

The console is reported to feature PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an upscaling technology similar to NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. It is expected to help upscaling frame rates and overall game performance.

Sony has plans to launch the PS5 Pro by the end of the year. The launch timeline is commonly speculated, and the latest report corroborates it. The company is expected to continue selling the standard PS5 alongside the PS5 Pro, similar to how it did with the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.
