Netflix Plans 2024 (Updated): Check Monthly and Yearly Netflix Subscription Plan Details, Benefits and more

Trouble choosing the best Netflix plan for your needs? Take a look at this guide

Netflix, the biggest OTT platform in the world, offers one of the priciest plans in an OTT in India. But Netflix backs it up with the premium content it offers, the catalogue including some of the biggest franchises in streaming such as Stranger Things, Squid Game, Money Heist and more.

Netflix plans start at Rs 149 per month and the most expensive plan costs Rs 649 per month. In this article, let’s take a look at Netflix plans 2024 and talk about everything to know about them.

Netflix Subscription Plans 2024

Currently, Netflix has four plans in the country. These plans start at Rs 149 and go up to Rs 649. Each plan offers a different number of screens on which content can be viewed simultaneously. Here’s a list of all the plans that Netflix has to offer you:

Netflix Rs 149 mobile-only plan

  • 1 screen at a time
  • 480p streaming quality
  • Support for only mobile devices

As the name of this plan suggests, you can only use it to access Netflix on a smartphone or tablet. The Rs 149 mobile-only plan allows for content to be viewed on only 1 screen at a time.

As it’s mobile-only, you will not be able to use your Netflix account with this plan on Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast or any other big-screen gadget which includes laptops and iPads.

Content can only be streamed on 480p. The Mobile Plan requires Android OS devices 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher, Fire OS devices 5.0 or higher, or iOS devices 12.0 or higher. This plan is definitely useful if you prefer to consume all your content via just your mobile phone. Annually, you will end up paying Rs 1,788 for this mobile plan. The plan also allows users to download the series and movies for offline streaming.

Netflix Basic Rs 199 plan

  • 1 screen at a time
  • 720p streaming quality
  • Support for mobile, tablet, laptop and TV

If you happen to operate Netflix on many devices apart from your phone such as a tablet, computer or TV, then the Rs 199 plan is the one for you. The only caveat is that at any given point in time, Netflix will only operate on a single screen. Content is available in HD or 720p resolution only. The plan also allows users to download the series and movies for offline streaming. The annual cost for the plan is Rs 2,388.

Netflix Standard Rs 499 plan

  • 2 screen at a time
  • 1080p streaming quality
  • Support for mobile, tablet, laptop and TV

Unlike the Rs 199 plan, which allows you to stream content on only one device at a time, the Rs 499 plan allows you to stream content on two devices (screens) simultaneously at 1080p Full HD resolution. One can also download their favourite movies and TV shows on two supported devices at a time. The annual cost for the plan is Rs 5,988.

Netflix Premium Rs 649 plan

  • 4 screen at a time
  • 4K streaming quality
  • Support for mobile, tablet, laptop and TV

The Rs 649 plan is a kind of family plan wherein the account can be accessed on four screens simultaneously. All content can be streamed in Ultra HD (4K). Moreover, users can enjoy Netflix Spatial Audio support with the Premium plan along with the ability to download movies and TV shows on six devices at a time. The annual subscription cost for the plan is Rs 7,788.

Netflix Household

Netflix has recently confirmed that it will not allow users to share accounts if they don’t live in a primary user household. The brand has implemented a new Netflix Household policy that makes it impossible for users who are not part of the Household to log into the Netflix account. Here’s everything you need to know:

  • Netflix has implemented the ‘Netflix Household’ strategy, which restricts non-family users from accessing shows and movies through a single account.
  • With this, Netflix will analyze information such as IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity to ascertain whether a device is part of the user’s household. Presently, this restriction applies solely to television sets.
  • Users will be prompted to establish Netflix Household settings from their primary device, and only devices connected to the home’s WiFi will be allowed to access the same Netflix plan. Those who will try to log in from outside the household will get a message to create their account to access the content on the platform.
  • Interestingly, registered devices can be used outside of the household. However, one needs to connect to the same internet connection at least once a month. Failure to do so will result in the device being disconnected from the plan.

Netflix TV Plans

Not all Netflix plans allow you to watch Netflix on your smart TV. You need the higher Netflix plans. Here are those plans:

  • Basic – Rs 199 per month – 720p
  • Standard – Rs 499 per month – 1080p
  • Premium – Rs 649 per month – 4K

If you have a 4K TV, the Premium plan makes more sense as the Standard plan caps out at 1080p and the Basic plan at 720p, which would make it a sub-par experience.

On the other hand, if you have a TV with a Full HD display, the Premium plan isn’t going to be of use to you as your TV limits the content resolution to 1080p. You can also go for the Basic plan which offers 720p streaming if you’re on a budget.

Which Is The Right Subscription Plan For You?

Choosing the right Netflix plan depends on the devices you’re using to stream Netflix.

If you’re primarily streaming on your smartphone, you can go for the Mobile-only plan, which goes for Rs 149 per month. But this plan limits the streaming quality to just 480p, something you won’t even watch on YouTube nowadays. You need to look for higher plans if you want better quality from Netflix, but if you don’t mind the lower quality and you just want to watch the content on your smartphone, the Mobile-only plan is the one to go for.

The next plan, the Basic plan, not only upgrades the streaming quality to 720p, it also lets you stream Netflix on your TV and Computer. If you want to use your Netflix on TV and Computer, you should choose this plan or the plans higher than this one.

If you want to use the same Netflix account on multiple devices and want higher quality streams, you need to either choose Standard or Premium plans. The standard plan lets you watch it at the same time on two devices while the Premium lets you watch it in 4. But you won’t be able to share your Netflix account with your friends anymore as Netflix Household has come into effect.
