OnePlus has announced its partnership with multiple production houses in India. It includes Indian film director and producer Vikramaditya Motwane’s Andolan Production, Big Bad Wolf Studios, and the Odd and Even Productions. Collectively, the team has shot a 60-minute feature film called ‘2024’. Notably, the action thriller is filmed entirely on the company’s flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 9 Pro. OnePlus made huge claims earlier this year at the OnePlus 9 series launch event. The company also tuned the camera system on its Pro flagship by partnering with legendary camera maker Hasselblad and also used custom Sony sensors.

To showcase the OnePlus 9 Pro’s ultimate flagship camera experience and its capabilities, OnePlus partnered with the three production houses for their new feature film. The film, set in the year 2024, tells the story of four youngsters who grew up together in an orphanage in Dharavi as they struggle to survive in a dystopian environment resulting from a mutating virus. The tale of the film urges viewers to reflect on one’s learnings and takeaways from the recent pandemic experiences.

“With the feature film being entirely shot on our flagship OnePlus 9 Pro 5G, we are delighted to showcase the exceptional camera quality of our flagship devices that offers more accurate colours and premium image quality to users,” Navnit Nakra, India CEO and Head of India Region, OnePlus India, said. Those interested can watch the film today on Disney+ Hotstar.

OnePlus 9 Pro specifications

The OnePlus 9 Pro camera setup on the back houses four sensors. It has a 48MP Sony IMX789 f/1.8 sensor, a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultrawide camera sensor, and an 8MP telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture. There is also a 2MP monochrome camera sensor that completes the camera setup on the back. The flagship smartphone recently got a new XPan Mode, which replicates the experience of using Hasselblad’s XPan camera. Users can shoot photos in XPan mode with a 65:24 aspect ratio, which is the same as the original XPan camera. It also gets two film simulation profiles for XPan mode, including a colour mode and a unique black and white mode.

The phone features a Snapdragon 888 SoC, up to 12GB of RAM, and a 4500 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. At the front is a 6.7-inch WQHD+ Super AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
