  • Xiaomi is said to be working on a new flagship device.
  • This new device will have a camera setup similar to the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
  • Xiaomi is also reportedly considering to skip the global launch of the Xiaomi 14 Pro and instead focus on the base model Xiaomi 14.

The upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a highly anticipated device, which will be the top-end variant of the Xiaomi 14 Series. The company has been silent about the device and is currently focusing on the global launch of the Redmi Note 13 Series, including India. While we have heard a lot about the developments of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, a new report from DCS suggests that the company is quietly testing a mysterious device with 3.2x optical zoom with a 75mm lens. Let’s have a look.

Xiaomi’s Mysterious Device With a Periscope Lens

DCS posted on Weibo that Xiaomi is reportedly testing a device with a periscope lens setup. The tipster further clarified in the post’s comments that this device is not the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

According to the post, this new device will feature a lens capable of telephoto and macro focus, with an optical zoom capacity of 3.2x and a focal length of 75mm. This setup sounds very familiar to the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which was launched a few weeks back.

Apart from these details, DCS did not reveal any other information. To recall, Xiaomi had replaced the Mix Series by adding an Ultra variant starting from the Xiaomi 12 Series. Hence, it’s difficult to speculate any details of this device as the company does not have any due upgrades across its flagships, apart from the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

Xiaomi is also said to cancel the global launch of the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The company has reportedly stopped the development of the global HyperOS ROM for the Xiaomi 14 Pro, and instead is only focusing on the base variant Xiaomi 14.

Xiaomi has been slightly conservative in bringing its top-end flagships to India. The company skipped launching the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and instead limited its launch to the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Hence, the chances of Xiaomi 14 Ultra coming to India are too slim, as the company is more focused on the budget and premium mid-range segments through its sister brands Redmi and POCO.

Xiaomi recently confirmed the launch date of the Redmi Note 13 Series in India, which is scheduled for January 4, 2024. Considering the timelines of Xiaomi’s past launches, the company may launch a certain flagship from the Xiaomi 14 Series around April 2024. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed any upcoming flagship for the Indian market yet.
