Sony Expands BRAVIA Theatre Lineup in India With New Soundbars, Wireless Speakers, and Modular Home Audio Ecosystem

Sony India has expanded its BRAVIA Theatre lineup with a range of new premium home audio products, including the flagship BRAVIA Theatre Trio, BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7, BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5, Sub 9, Sub 8, Rear 9, and Rear 8. The new portfolio will roll out in phases beginning July 1 across Sony Centres, Sony Exclusive Stores, Amazon, and other authorised retail partners.

Instead of focusing on a single flagship soundbar, Sony is building a complete home entertainment ecosystem where users can start with one product and gradually add wireless subwoofers or rear speakers as their requirements grow. The lineup supports technologies such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, and deeper integration with compatible BRAVIA televisions.

BRAVIA Theatre Trio Leads Sony's Premium Home Theatre Push

Leading the portfolio is the BRAVIA Theatre Trio, priced at Rs. 1,69,990. Unlike a conventional soundbar, the system uses dedicated left, centre and right speakers to create a wider soundstage and clearer dialogue, especially for larger televisions.

The system supports Dolby Atmos and DTS audio formats and can be paired with the BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9 and Rear 9 to create a more immersive surround sound experience using Sony's spatial audio processing technologies.

Bar 7 and Bar 5 Target Different Home Entertainment Needs

For buyers looking for a traditional soundbar setup, Sony has introduced the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 at Rs. 82,990 and the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5 at Rs. 29,990.

The Bar 7 sits in the premium segment with nine speaker units, up-firing and side-firing speakers, 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, Dolby Atmos and IMAX Enhanced support for a cinematic listening experience.

Meanwhile, the Bar 5 is aimed at users upgrading from standard TV speakers. It features a 3.1-channel setup with a wireless subwoofer included in the box, alongside Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Vertical Surround Engine and Voice Zoom 3 to improve dialogue clarity on compatible BRAVIA TVs.

Sony Wants Buyers to Build Their Home Theatre Over Time

The biggest announcement isn't actually a soundbar.

Sony's new BRAVIA Direct Connect feature allows compatible BRAVIA televisions to connect directly with the company's wireless subwoofers and rear speakers without requiring a soundbar in between. Users can choose configurations such as TV + Subwoofer, TV + Rear Speakers or combine both, making it easier to upgrade a home theatre setup gradually instead of investing in an expensive package upfront. To complement this approach, Sony has also introduced the BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9 and Sub 8 wireless subwoofers, along with the Rear 9 and Rear 8 wireless speakers. The accessories integrate with the BRAVIA Connect app for setup and control while allowing users to expand their audio system whenever they choose.

Sony's latest BRAVIA Theatre lineup isn't just about launching new soundbars. The bigger story is the company's move towards a modular home audio ecosystem, giving users the flexibility to upgrade piece by piece instead of buying a complete setup on day one. BRAVIA Direct Connect is the standout feature here, and if the experience is as seamless as Sony promises, it could become one of the strongest reasons for BRAVIA TV owners to stay within Sony's ecosystem.
