Hisense has launched the UR8S RGB MiniLED TV series in India, bringing its RGB-based MiniLED display technology to 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch screen sizes. Prices start at Rs 1,19,990, with the new televisions aimed at buyers looking at high-end large-screen TVs for movies, sports and gaming.
The launch also comes at an interesting time for the Indian TV market. RGB backlighting is beginning to emerge as one of the new areas of competition at the higher end of the segment. Sony recently expanded its True RGB portfolio in India with the BRAVIA 9II, while Hisense is now bringing its RGB MiniLED technology into the mainstream.
Hisense UR8S Price and Availability in India
The Hisense UR8S RGB MiniLED series starts at Rs 1,19,990 and will be available in 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch screen sizes. Hisense will sell the TVs through offline retailers including Satya, Nandilath, MyG, Great Eastern, Patra Electronics and Khosla, along with Amazon and Flipkart.
As part of the launch offer, buyers can get cashback of up to Rs 10,000, a two-year comprehensive warranty, one free EMI, zero down payment and fixed EMI options.
What Is Different About RGB MiniLED?
Conventional MiniLED televisions typically use a backlight alongside an LCD layer to create the final image. The newer RGB approach uses separate red, green and blue light sources in the backlight, giving manufacturers finer control over colour reproduction.
Hisense says its RGB MiniLED implementation is designed to deliver richer colours, higher contrast and greater brightness. The UR8S uses the company’s Hi-View AI Engine RGB to optimise colour, brightness and overall picture performance in real time.
Sony is taking a broadly similar direction with its True RGB televisions. Its RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro independently controls red, green and blue LEDs, with the company positioning the technology around improved colour precision and contrast. Sony first introduced the BRAVIA 7II in India in May before adding the higher-end BRAVIA 9II to the range in July.
The terminology and individual implementations differ between brands, but the larger trend is clear: RGB-based backlighting is becoming another battleground for high-end LED TVs, alongside OLED and increasingly sophisticated conventional MiniLED sets.
Hisense UR8S Gets 180Hz Panel and Up to 3,500 Nits Brightness
Beyond the RGB MiniLED backlight, the UR8S features a native 180Hz refresh rate, up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, and Anti-Reflection & Glare-Free technology. The combination is aimed at fast-moving sports and gaming as well as viewing in brighter rooms.
Hisense has also included an AI RGB Light Sensor that adjusts the picture according to ambient lighting. Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker Mode are supported, while audio comes from a 2.1.2-channel surround sound system with Dolby Atmos.
The televisions run VIDAA and support hands-free voice control, Alexa, Google Home, Apple AirPlay and Apple Home integration. Hisense says VIDAA enables faster navigation and app launches, with access to both global and Indian streaming services.
Speaking about the launch, Pankaj Rana, CEO, Hisense India, said consumers are increasingly looking beyond screen size towards the overall viewing experience, with demand moving towards 55-inch and larger televisions. He added that Hisense had previously introduced its RGB MiniLED technology through the UX series for ultra-large-screen buyers and is using the UR8S to bring it to more widely purchased screen sizes.
