At the IFA 2026 trade show, Nvidia announced new hardware and software to help people run artificial intelligence (AI) directly on their personal computers, rather than relying on the internet and cloud servers.
Making AI Apps Easy to Install
Usually, setting up an AI model on your computer is complicated and requires a lot of technical knowledge. Nvidia is fixing this by adding a “one-click” setup feature to popular AI applications.
Starting in September, apps like Hermes Agent and OpenClaw 2.0 will automatically choose, download, and set up the best AI model for your specific Nvidia graphics card. Furthermore, the popular search app Perplexity is bringing its offline AI assistant to Nvidia graphics cards that have 24 GB of memory or more. This lets you keep your personal files and searches strictly private on your machine, while still allowing the app to connect to the internet if you ask it a complicated question.
Nvidia Pair: Borrowing Power from Your Other PCs
Many homes have more than one computer, like a gaming desktop in the bedroom and a work laptop in the living room, but they are rarely used at the exact same time. Nvidia Pair is a free app launching on September 3 that connects these devices over your home Wi-Fi network.
When you ask an AI app to do a heavy task, Nvidia Pair works in the background to share that workload across your available computers. For example, if you are playing a video game on your main desktop, Pair will automatically send the background AI work to your idle laptop. This keeps your game running smoothly without slowing down the AI. The software works across Windows, Mac, and Linux computers.
RTX Spark N1X Chips Arrive in October
Nvidia also shared details about its next generation of computer chips, called the RTX Spark N1X, which will be available in October. These chips are built to handle heavy AI tasks while still providing excellent gaming performance.
There will be two versions at launch:
- A high-end version for both laptops and small desktops, featuring up to 128 GB of memory.
- A standard version made specifically for laptops, featuring up to 32 GB of memory.
Nvidia also confirmed that the new Spark chips will fully support traditional PC gaming. Major game developers are already on board, ensuring that popular games like Apex Legends and The Finals will run perfectly on the new hardware from day one.
