Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: Everything you need to know

Samsung’s next-generation foldable is shaping up to be one of the company’s biggest foldable upgrades in years. While Samsung is also reportedly preparing additional Fold-branded devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 remains the direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and is expected to debut at Galaxy Unpacked in July. Rumour has it that the event for this will take place in London. Multiple leaks suggest Samsung is focusing on improving battery life, reducing the display crease, refining durability, and enhancing the overall foldable experience.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Expected Specifications

Samsung is expected to retain the familiar book-style foldable design introduced with previous Fold devices. However, reports indicate the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could become slightly lighter and thinner than its predecessor while maintaining a premium aluminum-and-glass construction. Some reports suggest Samsung may switch back to carbon-fiber-reinforced materials in certain internal components to reduce weight and manufacturing complexity.

The biggest display upgrade could be a significantly reduced crease. Samsung Display showcased a nearly crease-free foldable OLED panel at CES 2026, and industry reports suggest this technology could make its debut on the Fold 8. The phone is expected to feature an 8-inch inner AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a cover screen measuring around 6.5 inches. Samsung is also reportedly working on improving brightness, durability, and outdoor visibility.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Leaks suggest configurations with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. Samsung is also expected to continue its AI push with new Galaxy AI features optimized for multitasking and productivity on large-screen foldables.

Android 17 with Samsung’s latest One UI version is expected to ship out of the box. Improvements to multitasking, split-screen workflows, and AI-assisted productivity tools are likely to be major software highlights.

Samsung may keep its flagship-level camera approach. Current leaks point to a 200MP primary camera, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide sensor and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Selfie cameras are expected on both the cover display and the inner screen. While not a dramatic overhaul, Samsung appears focused on improving image processing and low-light performance.

Battery life has long been a weak point for Samsung foldables, and the Fold 8 could finally address that criticism. Multiple reports suggest Samsung will increase battery capacity to 5,000mAh, up from previous generations. Faster 45W wired charging is also rumored, although Samsung has yet to confirm these details.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: Expected Price and Launch

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in the month of July, with availability beginning shortly afterward. The exact date is not out yet and we will be informing you about the same shortly. Pricing is expected to remain in premium territory, likely starting around $1,899-$1,999 globally, with Indian pricing expected to remain close to the current Fold lineup.

If the leaks prove accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may finally deliver the combination Fold users have been waiting for: a larger battery, a less visible crease, flagship performance, and improved durability without dramatically changing the formula that made Samsung’s foldables successful in the first place.
