Alongside the Pixel 11 smartphone lineup, Google has introduced the Pixel Watch 5 with a stronger focus on AI-powered assistance and advanced health tracking. The company also announced a software update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2, bringing smarter noise cancellation, Gemini-powered controls, and tighter integration with the Pixel ecosystem.
Pixel Watch 5 Specifications And Features
The Pixel Watch 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor and features a dual-chip architecture which is claimed to deliver 20 percent faster performance, 12 percent faster CPU processing, and 50 percent more RAM compared to its predecessor. At the centre of the experience is Gemini Intelligence, which introduces proactive assistance directly on the wrist. The new "At a Glance" interface surfaces contextual information such as boarding passes, commute updates, and calendar events when needed. Google's improved Raise to Talk functionality also allows users to trigger Gemini with a wrist raise, enabling actions such as launching workouts, setting timers, or accessing Gmail information, even while offline.
Google has also introduced Gemini Intelligence Proactive Suggestions, which surfaces one-tap actions based on information across apps and services. Users can interact with these suggestions using new one-handed double-pinch gestures, allowing quick responses without touching the display. These features are designed to reduce reliance on the smartphone while making day-to-day interactions faster and more seamless.
Health and fitness remain a key focus for the Pixel Watch 5. Google claims the smartwatch offers its most accurate GPS tracking yet by combining AI-driven route optimisation, 3D building models, satellite path prediction, and real-time weather corrections. The company says this results in more accurate workout tracking, even in dense urban environments or covered trails. The watch also introduces an on-wrist Strength Training experience with guided workouts, while Google Health Coach provides personalised workout recommendations based on sleep, heart rate variability, recovery metrics, and environmental conditions.
The smartwatch also expands its health capabilities with three new Health Guardian features. Monthly trend summaries for blood pressure, sleep breathing quality, and insulin resistance aim to help users identify long-term health changes before they become more serious. Google says these insights are powered by Health Foundation Models trained on billions of minutes of sensor data. Sleep tracking has also been enhanced with 15 percent more accurate sleep stage detection, Smart Wake alarms that wake users during lighter sleep phases, bedtime automations, and a dedicated bedtime watch face.
Other highlights include a 3,000-nit Actua 360 display, new watch faces, 11 glanceable complication styles, AI-generated watch faces, up to 40 hours of battery life on the 41mm model, repairable hardware architecture, and new colour options including Fog, Canyon, Olive, and Pyrite.
Alongside the smartwatch, Google announced new software features for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation now automatically adjusts when the earbud seal changes to maintain consistent noise isolation. Users can also control audio settings using Gemini voice commands, such as adjusting bass levels hands-free. Another new feature, Pixel Watch Sleep Sync, automatically pauses music, disables touch controls, and silences notifications when the paired Pixel Watch detects that the user has fallen asleep. Google also introduced a new Olive colour option for the Pixel Buds Pro 2, with software updates rolling out from September.
Google Pixel Watch 5 Price in India, Availability
The Google Pixel Watch 5 is available for pre-order starting today and will go on sale from August 20. It is priced at Rs 42,900 for the 41mm variant and Rs 45,900 for the 45mm model. The Olive colour variant of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is also available to order starting August 12, while the new software features will begin rolling out in September.
Google's wearable strategy is moving beyond fitness tracking to proactive assistance and long-term health monitoring. Rather than competing solely on hardware specifications, the Pixel Watch 5 leverages Gemini Intelligence and Health Guardian to position itself as an AI-powered wellness companion. Meanwhile, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 updates further strengthen the Pixel ecosystem by adding practical AI features that work seamlessly across Google's smartphones, smartwatch, and audio products.
