Vivo S2 India launch teased, design officially revealed ahead of expected August debut

Vivo has officially teased the Vivo S2 in India, offering the first glimpse of the smartphone’s design ahead of its expected launch. The teaser confirms that the company is preparing to reintroduce the S series in the country, nearly six years after launching the Vivo S1 in 2019. While Vivo has yet to announce an official launch date, recent leaks suggest the handset could debut in early August.

Vivo S2 India launch teased

Vivo India shared a short teaser video on X that reveals a portion of the Vivo S2’s rear panel. The smartphone features a pill-shaped horizontal camera island positioned near the top of the back panel. Inside the module are two large circular camera rings, while a separate circular element placed alongside them appears to function as a light ring.

The official teaser aligns closely with previously leaked dummy units, which hinted at a similar rear camera design. Those leaks also suggested that the Vivo S2 could feature a polycarbonate frame and back panel, along with a curved display on the front. A centrally positioned hole-punch cutout is expected to house the selfie camera.

The leaked dummy units appeared in black and rose gold finishes. These colors differ from an earlier report that claimed the smartphone would be available in Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze, and Silk White. Vivo has not confirmed the available color options.

Although the company has not announced an official launch schedule, recent reports indicate that the Vivo S2 may launch in India on August 6, with sales expected to begin on August 11. Vivo has not commented on these dates.

Expected specifications, pricing, and hardware

According to recent leaks, the Vivo S2 could be available in 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations.

Pricing remains uncertain. Earlier retail listings reportedly showed internal demo prices of Rs. 38,000 and Rs. 42,000 for the two storage variants, while another listing suggested the 8GB + 128GB model could retail for Rs. 43,000. Since these figures originated from internal retail systems, they may not represent the final consumer pricing.

The Vivo S2 is expected to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

There is, however, some uncertainty surrounding the chipset. Earlier reports suggested the handset would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, while more recent leaks claim Vivo may instead opt for the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 chipset. Vivo has not confirmed which processor the smartphone will use.

For photography, the Vivo S2 is tipped to include a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The smartphone is also expected to support 4K video recording from both the rear and front cameras.

In terms of battery life, leaks have suggested that the Vivo S2 will pack a 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

At present, Vivo has only confirmed that the Vivo S2 is coming to India. The launch date, complete specifications, pricing, and availability are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
