Xiaomi has started selling its new flagship phones in India, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The lineup is now available across Amazon, mi.com, and offline retail stores starting March 18.
Like recent Xiaomi flagships, the focus is again on cameras, but the company has split the lineup in a way that's easy to understand. One leans more toward camera-heavy users, while the other keeps things balanced.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Specifications and features

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the more camera-focused device in the lineup. It comes with a Leica-backed camera system that offers multiple focal lengths and a high-resolution telephoto setup with optical zoom. Xiaomi is also pushing video features here, with support for Dolby Vision and ACES Log, which are more relevant if you plan to edit footage later.
Beyond the cameras, it still sits firmly in flagship territory with a top-tier chipset and a premium build. This is clearly the model Xiaomi wants to position as its most capable device for photography and video.
Xiaomi 17: Specifications and features
The Xiaomi 17 is more straightforward to recommend to a wider audience. It features a triple 50MP Leica camera system, which should cover most use cases without trying to go too far into niche territory.
It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and packs a 6330mAh battery with 100W fast charging. The phone also gets an OLED display with peak brightness going up to 3,500 nits. Overall, it feels like a well-rounded flagship that focuses on consistency rather than standout features.

Price and Availability
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra starts at ₹1,29,999, with up to ₹10,000 instant discount available on SBI credit cards. The Xiaomi 17 starts at ₹89,999, and EMI options are available for both devices.
Xiaomi is also offering the 512GB variant of the Xiaomi 17 at the price of the 256GB model for a limited time. Both phones come with bundled benefits, including subscription offers and Jio-related perks.
What to make of it
There's no major shift in strategy here. Xiaomi is still doing what it has been doing for a while now, offering two clear flagship options.
The Ultra is meant for users who care more about camera flexibility, while the standard Xiaomi 17 focuses on getting the basics right. For most people, the regular model will probably make more sense, but the Ultra gives Xiaomi a way to stand out in a crowded premium segment.
