Xiaomi launches Redmi 15C 5G in India with 6.9-inch display and 6000mAh battery

Xiaomi has officially thrown a new contender into India's budget 5G ring with the launch of the Redmi 15C 5G. Announced today (December 3), this phone is essentially trying to solve the biggest headache for budget buyers: battery anxiety. It packs a huge battery, a massive screen, and 5G connectivity into a package that doesn’t break the bank.
Xiaomi Redmi 15C 5G Pricing and availability
You can grab one starting December 11 on Amazon, Mi.com, or at your local mobile store. It comes in three colors: Moonlight Blue, Dusk Purple, and Midnight Black.
Let's talk money. Xiaomi is keeping things aggressive here:
  • Rs 12,499 for the 4GB + 128GB version.
  • Rs 13,999 for the 6GB + 128GB version.
  • Rs 15,499 for the top-tier 8GB + 128GB model.
That price puts it in a sweet spot for anyone still holding onto an old 4G phone and waiting for a cheap enough reason to switch.
Xiaomi Redmi 15C 5G Specifications
The first thing you will notice is the size. It has a massive 6.9-inch HD+ display. While it's not the sharpest screen on the block, the 120Hz refresh rate means scrolling through Instagram or menus will feel surprisingly smooth for a phone this cheap.
Under the hood, it’s running the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. This is the same engine you’ll find in rivals like the Realme C67 5G. It's not a gaming beast, but for WhatsApp, YouTube, and light multitasking, it's more than capable.
The software situation is actually pretty good, too. It runs on Android 15 (HyperOS 2) out of the box, and Xiaomi is promising two years of major updates and four years of security patches. That's rare in the budget segment, where phones are often forgotten after a year.
The cameras are straightforward: a 50MP main shooter on the back and a simple selfie cam on the front. It's built for casual snaps, not professional photography.
But the real star here is the 6,000mAh battery. That is huge – bigger than almost everything else in this price range. It supports 33W fast charging (and yes, the charger is in the box), plus it has a cool 10W reverse charging feature so you can use your phone to charge your earbuds in a pinch. Throw in distinct touches like IP64 water resistance and louder speakers, and it feels like a solid package.
Should you buy it?
If you are a student, a parent buying a first phone for a teen, or just someone who needs a phone that lasts literally all day (and then some), this is a strong contender. You get the big screen and the battery life without paying a premium.
Xiaomi is clearly trying to own the sub-₹15,000 market again. With the Redmi 15C 5G, it’s setting a tough benchmark for Samsung and Realme to follow: big battery, smooth screen, and long software support are now the new standard for budget phones.
