Amazon Launches Fire TV Stick HD in India at Rs. 4,999 With Wi-Fi 6 and Xbox Cloud Gaming Support

Amazon has launched the all-new Fire TV Stick HD in India at Rs. 4,999, introducing what the company calls its fastest HD streaming stick yet. The new device brings over 30% faster performance on average compared to the previous generation, alongside Wi-Fi 6 support, HDR10+ streaming, a slimmer design, and Xbox cloud gaming access without requiring a console.

The Fire TV Stick HD is now available through Amazon.in, Blinkit, Flipkart, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, with retail store availability expected soon.

Fire TV Stick HD Brings Faster Performance and Wi-Fi 6

Amazon says the new Fire TV Stick HD delivers noticeable speed improvements over earlier HD Fire TV models, offering faster app launches, quicker boot times, and smoother navigation. The streaming stick supports 1080p Full HD streaming with HDR10+ alongside Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for improved streaming stability, even on slower internet connections.

Sayantani Choudhuri, Head of Fire TV at Amazon India, said customers increasingly expect streaming devices to feel responsive and seamless, with faster app loading, smoother playback, and easier content discovery. According to the company, the redesigned Fire TV interface has also been rebuilt to feel cleaner, faster, and more organised. The updated Fire TV experience now includes dedicated sections for movies, TV shows, live content, and free streaming content, while also integrating Alexa-compatible smart home controls directly into the interface. Users can control connected appliances such as ACs, geysers, fans, and lights without leaving the Fire TV interface.

Slimmer Design and USB-Powered Setup

Amazon says the new Fire TV Stick HD is around 30% slimmer than other Fire TV streaming sticks currently in the lineup. One of the more practical additions is Direct Power support, allowing the device to draw power directly from compatible TV USB ports without requiring a separate wall adapter.

The company is also positioning the streaming stick as a portable entertainment device that can easily fit into small bags or pockets for travel usage. Earlier this year, Amazon also rolled out a redesigned Fire TV mobile app in India that allows users to browse content, manage watchlists, and remotely start playback directly from smartphones.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Comes to Fire TV HD Devices

One of the biggest additions with the new Fire TV Stick HD is support for Xbox cloud gaming on Fire TV HD devices for the first time. Users can pair a compatible Bluetooth controller and access hundreds of cloud-enabled Xbox games directly through the Xbox app on Fire TV Stick HD, though an Xbox Game Pass subscription is still required. The device also supports streaming apps, including Prime Video, Netflix, JioHotstar, YouTube, Zee5, and other services available through the Amazon Appstore. Alexa voice controls remain part of the experience through the bundled Alexa Voice Remote.

At Rs. 4,999, the Fire TV Stick HD enters a highly competitive streaming device market that includes offerings from Google, Xiaomi, and Roku. The addition of Wi-Fi 6 and Xbox cloud gaming gives Amazon a few meaningful differentiators in the HD streaming segment, especially for users looking for a more versatile entertainment device without moving to a higher-priced 4K streaming stick.
