Samsung launched its new WindFree Cassette Air Conditioners in India to address the rising demand for energy-efficient, smart cooling solutions. The new AC range features built-in Wi-Fi with SmartThings integration, eco-friendly R32 refrigerant, and Samsung’s unique WindFree Cooling technology for draft-free, quiet operation.
According to Samsung, these Cassette ACs focus on comfort, convenience, and energy efficiency. The WindFree technology distributes cool air through thousands of micro-holes, eliminating harsh drafts and maintaining a comfortable room temperature. It operates as low as 24 dB(A) and can run with very slow air movement of 0.15 m/sec.
Apart from that, the ACs come with built-in Wi-Fi, so you can control them through the Samsung SmartThings app, set schedules, and monitor performance from your phone. They also work with voice assistants like Bixby, Alexa, and Google Assistant. Features like Good Sleep mode and Welcome Cooling use occupancy and GPS data to save up to 48% energy, while Comfort Humidity Control can save up to 19% in dry mode. The units use eco-friendly R32 refrigerant and offer an optional PM 1.0 filter to remove fine dust and improve indoor air quality.

Market Trends and Competition
So while Samsung is trying to get maximum benefit of this growing market with their latest set of Made-in-India WindFree Cassette ACs, the overall cassette AC segment in India is seeing rapid growth. The market is expected to reach around USD 511.77 million in 2025, growing at a CAGR of 8.3%, driven by rising demand for energy-efficient cooling, urbanisation, and the expansion of smart commercial spaces. Traditionally popular in offices, malls, and institutional buildings, cassette ACs are now also finding a place in premium residential projects due to their ceiling-mounted, discreet design.
The competition in this segment is intense, with major players like LG, Mitsubishi Electric, Godrej, Voltas, Toshiba, Panasonic, and Samsung HVAC vying for market share. Brands compete on technological innovation, including inverter technology, smart controls, and eco-friendly refrigerants, energy efficiency, and after-sales service. Indian players such as Voltas focus on competitive pricing and solutions tailored for local conditions, while international brands lead with quieter, more energy-efficient, and aesthetically refined models. With increasing demand for IoT-enabled ACs and government regulations pushing for higher energy ratings, companies are also emphasising integrated solutions, multi-zone cooling, and personalised comfort to stand out in this fast-evolving, innovation-driven market.
Key Tips for Buying Your Next Cassette AC
If you’re thinking about buying a cassette AC in India, there are a few key things to keep in mind. First, considering the space and cooling requirements, cassette ACs are ideal for medium to large rooms, offices, or commercial spaces because of their 360-degree air distribution. For homes, they work best in premium or open-plan areas where a ceiling-mounted unit can remain discreet while cooling efficiently. The demand for cassette ACs is also rising among homeowners who value aesthetics, as these units can be seamlessly integrated into false ceilings, offering powerful cooling without compromising interior design.
