Apple has just announced the Apple Watch Pride Edition bands in India. To celebrate Pride month (June), Apple has released two new Pride Edition bands for Apple Watch and also dynamic Pride watch faces in support of the global LGBTQ+ community and equality movement.
Apple says this year’s Pride Edition Sport Loop showcases a colour gradient with the word “pride” woven directly into the band. Over the past few years, Apple has been a strong supporter of LGBTQ+ advocacy organisations and this year, Apple will also release a new Shot on iPhone pride campaign on Instagram in June that captures the essence of artists and figures within the global LGBTQ+ community.
Pride Edition Sport Loop and Nike Sport Loop: Price and Availability
Both the Prime Edition bands are priced at Rs 3,900 and they’re now available on Apple.com and Apple Store app. The bands will be available in the Apple Store starting May 26 and soon the Nike Sport Loop is also coming soon to nike.com. Both the Pride Edition bands are compatible with any Apple Watch.
Pride Edition Sport Loop
In order to deliver a new expression of pride, this band comes with a unique design inspired by the members and allies of the LGBTQ+ creative community at Apple. This particular band utilises the comfortable, durable, and adjustable Sport Loop design. In addition, Apple has used a new technique to remove several of the double-layer nylon-woven textile loops on the band to reveal the word “pride” in a cursive style inspired by the original “hello” greeting — displayed on the first Macintosh in 1984.
The colour gradient incorporates the original rainbow colours with those drawn from various pride flags, including light blue, pink, and white, representing transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals, and black and brown, symbolising Black and Latinx communities. The colours also represent those who are living with or have passed away from HIV/AIDS.
Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop
Like always, there is a Nike edition of the Sport Loop. The new Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop is built to celebrate the full spectrum of the rainbow and features a matching rainbow-coloured Nike Bounce face.
Pride Threads Watch Face
The latest Pride watch face will be available starting today for Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 8.6, and iPhone 6s or later running iOS 15.5. This watch face is inspired by multiple pride flags and it combines colours to represent the strength and mutual support of the LGBTQ+ movement. The colourful threads move as the Digital Crown on Apple Watch is rotated, the display is tapped, or the user’s wrist is raised.
