The long-awaited Fallout 4 next-gen update is finally available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC gamers. However, it was delayed and is finally available for fans.

Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update: What’s New

Fallout 4 has received dedicated versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This version comes with Performance and Quality modes. In the performance mode, gamers will get 4K resolution at 60fps with standard settings and dynamic resolution scaling. The Quality mode focuses on 4K resolutions at 30fps with ultra settings and should not require dynamic resolution scaling.

Note that Quality mode will target 40fps when connected to a 120Hz display. The game will run at 1440p resolution at 60fps with ultra settings when connected to a 1440p display. It is regardless of the rendering mode.

Bethesda has added widescreen and ultra-widescreen support for Fallout 4 PC gamers. The game is now Steam Deck Verified, which is good news for handheld console users.

The Fallout 4 next-gen update brings 9 Free Creation Club items:

  • Enclave Remnants (New!)
  • Enclave Weapon Skins
  • Enclave Armor Skins
  • Tesla Cannon
  • Hellfire Power Armor
  • X-02 Power Armor
  • Heavy Incinerator
  • Halloween Workshop (New!)
  • Makeshift Weapon Pack (New!)

Completing a new quest called Echoes of the Past will earn you the Enclave Remnants pack. The patch notes page has tons of bug fixes, which you can check.

Fallout 4 PlayStation 5 Update for PS Plus Subscribers

If you acquired Fallout 4 on PlayStation through the PS Plus subscription, you may have noticed the Fallout 4 PS5 version is unavailable as a free upgrade. The PlayStation Store has listed it as a paid upgrade. Bethesda has posted on X that it knows the situation and is working on a fix. Once the fix is released, PS Plus subscribers should be able to download the PS5 version for free.
