Sony has showcased a new PlayStation controller concept, which imagines what the wireless gaming controller could look like 10 years from now. The concept design is shared via Sony’s latest YouTube video. Have a look at the details below.
Future PlayStation Controller Could Have AR Integration
The whole YouTube video is a little over 2 minutes long. It shows the futuristic PlayStation controller concept for a few seconds, more like a glimpse. A user can be seen holding the controller similar to the DualShock 4 or the current-gen DualSense controller.
The first noticeable difference is that the controller concept does not have a touchpad. It has been replaced with something that looks like a curved display in a circular shape. The traditional D-pad and signature PlayStation buttons (square, circle, triangle, and cross) are not there anymore. Instead, there are what appear to be circular touchpads with glowing light.
There is a screen right above the conceptual controller that shows gameplay footage. We don’t know if it is a floating display or being projected through some AR integration. There are undoubtedly a lot of unanswered questions but that’s what concept designs are all about. But this could mean that Sony may delve into the cloud-gaming-based gaming handheld console.

Even though it is only a conceptual design, Sony is known to deliver cutting-edge features through each PlayStation controller. Its latest offering i.e. DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 is another engineering marvel. It has features like Adaptive Triggers and improved haptic feedback, which let you feel more immersed in the gaming experience.
