Google is rumoured to be working on a Pixel foldable smartphone. The company was initially expected to launch the foldable phone late last year in the US and other markets. While that obviously did not happen, reports suggested that the foldable Google smartphone will launch in H2 this year. Some specifications of the upcoming Pixel foldable have also been tipped. The latest one comes from display analyst Ross Young who has revealed the screen size of the foldable phone.
Young claims that the Google foldable phone will have a smaller cover display than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which will come with a 6.19” outer screen. However, the foldable display of both devices will have the same size. Let’s take a look at the leaked Google Pixel foldable smartphone specifications, features and other details.
Google Pixel Foldable Smartphone Display Specifications
Google Pixel Foldable smartphone could finally get a launch date this year. The rumour mill expects the foldable phone to launch by the end of 2022. Google has not confirmed any details of the foldable phone yet. While we wait for that, some display specs have surfaced online.
Young claims that the Google foldable phone will have the same foldable display size as the Z Fold 4. This means that the Pixel foldable phone could come with an 8-inch foldable screen. Young further stated that the outer screen on the Google foldable will be much smaller at 5.8-inch as compared to the Z Fold 4’s 6.19-inch outer display. Young states that the Google foldable will have a wider aspect ratio compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Notably, the Pixel’s outer screen size is the same as the Oppo Find N.
Other details of the Pixel foldable have been tipped in the past. It is rumoured to feature a dual-camera setup on the back. The camera will have a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 primary camera and a 12MP IMX386 ultrawide camera. For selfies and video calls, the foldable phone will have two 8MP sensors – one on the foldable screen and the other on the outer display.
Much like the new Pixel phones, the Google foldable will also feature the company’s custom-developed Tensor series chip. However, it is unknown if it will have the same chipset as the one found in the Pixel 6 series. More details should surface as we get closer to the launch.
