  • It’s a feature phone with basic calling and SMS features, along with a 0.3MP camera.

HMD has launched a new feature phone called ‘The Boring Phone’ in collaboration with Heineken and Bodega. The device highlights the concept of digital disconnection while emphasizing a quirky design given the transparent body. The Boring Phone has a flip screen that reminds us of retro phones.

HMD says that it has observed GenZ users cutting down their screen time to improve their mental health. Hence, the company has partnered with Heineken and Bodega, as both companies share the same ideology of prioritizing in-person social life. The Boring Phone will help young users avoid the trend of social media distractions.

The Boring Phone’s specifications include a 2.8-inch QVGA primary display and a 1.77-inch display on the outer side. It also has a 0.3MP camera. HMD says the device can offer a week of standby time with up to 20 hours of voice calls. The phone is 4G enabled and can also connect to 2G and 3G networks.

The Boring Phone is a limited-edition device that will only be available via giveaways and offline events organized by HMD, Heineken, and Bodega. It won’t be sold commercially in the markets. Heineken’s website says that only 5000 units will be produced.

The device will mainly be featured at events in European countries and some parts of the United States. HMD is unlikely to introduce ‘The Boring Phone’ in the Indian market.

If you are interested in getting a Nokia flip phone, you can get the Nokia 2660 in India, which is the same phone but without the transparent body and the special Heineken badge.

In related news, HMD is gearing up to launch smartphones under its name. Until now, the company has released phones under Nokia’s branding. The first set of smartphones from HMD are expected to be the HMD Pulse and the HMD Pulse Pro. Leaked renders of the HMD Pulse suggest that the device may feature a dual rear camera setup, and tipster OnLeaks mentions that it will have a 5000mAh battery.
