It’s that time of the year when every cricket fan awaits. The Cricket World Cup, ICC World Cup is the biggest sports tournament in cricket. This year, the tournament is set to commence on October 5. So, we’re just a few days away from action-packed games, breathtaking fielding, amazing batting, and suffocating bowling. All the world’s best cricket teams are participating in it.

Also, the teams have already begun releasing the official squads. 28 September is the last official date for the teams to finalize their players. So, to equip you with all the teams participating in it, we’ve curated a list of all teams in the ICC World Cup 2023.

A brief history of the ICC World Cup

First held in 1975 in England, the initial matches were 60 overs per team. They were played in the traditional white uniform and red balls. At then, eight teams participated in the tournament consisting of:

  • Sri Lanka
  • East Africa

The first tournament was won by West Indies defeating Australia by 17 runs in the final. The next two World Cups were held in the years 1979 and 1983 again in England. In 1979, the tournament saw its first ICC Trophy. Soon International Cricket Conference made this competition a four-yearly event, and since then it has been enjoyed by billions around the globe.
