Adobe has announced a new integration that brings Acrobat-powered PDF experiences to WhatsApp Web and Windows, allowing users to open, review, annotate, and edit PDF files directly within their chats. The update removes the need to download files or switch between apps, making document collaboration faster and more seamless for both personal and professional conversations.
With the new integration, PDFs shared on WhatsApp Web and Windows can now be opened instantly inside the conversation. Users can scroll through documents, zoom in, and read files in full-screen mode without downloading them. Adobe says password-protected PDFs are also supported, while documents continue to benefit from WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption, ensuring only intended recipients can access them.
Mark Up Documents and Access Acrobat Tools
Adobe is also bringing lightweight PDF markup tools into WhatsApp, allowing users to highlight text, underline sections, strike through content, and add visual feedback directly within the chat. For more advanced workflows, users can click "Edit in Acrobat" to access additional features such as editing, organising, signing documents, applying password protection, and using Acrobat AI Assistant to summarise documents, answer questions, and extract key insights. Updated files can then be shared back into the same WhatsApp conversation. Advanced editing and AI Assistant features require an Acrobat subscription.
Adobe says the integration is aimed at the growing number of users who already rely on WhatsApp for sharing invoices, contracts, catalogues, assignments, forms, and other documents. By keeping PDF workflows inside the messaging app, users can review files, make edits, and collaborate without breaking their workflow. The larger interface offered by WhatsApp Web and Windows also makes reading and responding to documents more convenient.

The Acrobat integration is available globally on WhatsApp Web and Windows starting today. It includes PDF previews, full-screen viewing, markup tools, and direct access to Acrobat's advanced editing capabilities, making WhatsApp a more capable platform for document collaboration.
