Air India Optimises iPhone App for iPhone Duo With Split-Screen and Dual-Pane Support

Air India has updated its mobile app to support the new iPhone Duo from day one, bringing a redesigned experience tailored to the device's larger display. The update introduces responsive layouts, split-view and dual-pane designs across key sections of the app, allowing passengers to access more information without excessive scrolling.

Air India App iPhone Duo Optimisation Features

The optimisation covers several parts of the Air India app, including the Home screen, Flight Booking, My Trips, Check-in, Flight Status and Loyalty Profile. The layouts have been adapted for both the outer and inner displays, as well as portrait and landscape orientations.

The updated Air India app is designed to take advantage of the additional screen space offered by the iPhone Duo. Instead of simply scaling up the existing interface, the app uses responsive layouts to display more information within a single view.

The Home screen, for instance, uses the expanded display area for destination cards and other app content. The Flight Booking section also gets a more organised layout, making it easier for passengers to compare available flight options.

Air India has optimised the app for four display configurations: outer display portrait, inner display portrait, inner display landscape and outer display landscape.

The larger display is also being used across the My Trips section. Passengers can view multiple trip cards side by side, while important journey information and actions remain visible within the same screen.

The updated interface provides access to options such as View Trip, Boarding Pass, Select Seat and Add Baggage alongside journey details. Air India says the new layout is intended to make travel information and frequently used actions easier to access.

The optimisation also extends to Check-in and Flight Status, bringing the same expanded-screen approach to other parts of the passenger journey.

Air India's Loyalty Profile section has also been redesigned for the iPhone Duo's larger display. The updated layout brings sections including My Activities, Vouchers, What's New and Earn with Partners into a wider interface, allowing more information to be displayed at once.

This reduces the need to navigate through multiple screens and gives passengers a broader view of their loyalty-related information.

Air India Brings iPhone Duo Support From Launch Day

Air India says its app was ready with iPhone Duo optimisation from the first day of the device's launch. The update is aimed at making the airline's key digital services easier to use across the phone's different display configurations.

By adapting the interface for the inner and outer screens instead of treating the larger display as simply extra screen space, Air India is using the Duo's form factor to present more travel information and actions at once.

Air India's iPhone Duo optimisation is a good example of how foldable-style devices can benefit from app interfaces designed specifically around their form factor. The ability to compare flights, view multiple trips and access boarding and baggage options without constantly switching screens could make the app noticeably more convenient for frequent travellers. The bigger question will be whether more travel and productivity apps follow the same approach as these new devices become more common.
