WhatsApp Channels, introduced last year, will soon get an update. This will make it easier to search for new Channels to follow. The feature helps celebrities, organisations, businesses, societies, and individuals share updates with their audiences.
WhatsApp Channels Will Soon Get Categories For Easy Search
According to the latest update by WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.10.17 update brings a new category feature for the Channel directory on the platform. This feature will be helpful for users to find channels that post similar content.
As you can see in the screenshot shared by the publication, the Channels page will get a revamped UI in a future update. The update can help users explore various channels by their niche category. It remains to be when this new update will be out for all.
As of now, WhatsApp has introduced seven categories, including Business, Entertainment, Lifestyle, News and Information, Organizations, People, and Sports. The platform will automatically segregate channels into respective categories, so channel owners don’t have to specify the category their channels belong to.
The feature currently requires you to manually search for channels and get shown specific results. You will have to further look for channels with similar content. Categorising similar channels will help you find other channels in the same niche with ease.
WhatsApp Channel recently got features like WhatsApp Channel polls, audio notes, and the ability to share to status. There can now be up 16 admins.
