iPhone 15 series launch event might be held later than expected. Apple was rumoured to host the iPhone 15 launch event in September this year. The upcoming Apple event could introduce four new iPhone models, namely the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. A recent report claimed that Apple’s upcoming iPhone launch event could be delayed by a few weeks. Adding to the details is a new report, which claims that Apple’s Pro lineup of iPhones launching this year might hit stores a bit later than expected. According to a new report by The Information (via), Apple is facing production issues for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The report stated that Apple’s top-end iPhones launching later this year could face supply constraints owing to display production issues. Apple is rumoured to launch its upcoming 2023 iPhone Pro models with extremely thin bezels around the display. The delay could be due to the “new manufacturing process” for the display design used by Apple.

According to the report, the displays made by LG for the iPhone 15 Pro models have had issues, which was discovered during the “risk ramp” stage of production by Foxconn, another supplier of Apple. During this process, Foxconn makes “hundreds of thousands of units of the device to test how reliably they can build the product without defects.”

“One person with direct knowledge said the LG-made displays have failed reliability tests after it goes through a new process known as low injection pressure overmolding or LIPO. The process involves Apple fusing the display into its metal shell prior to assembly. Apple is repeatedly tweaking the design of LG’s display so that it can pass the tests,” the report stated. “The problem is more pronounced with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, suggesting there will be a more severe shortage of that model than the iPhone 15 Pro,” the report added.

Apple might not delay the launch but instead make its Pro iPhones available a bit later than usual. The company has done so in the past. For instance, the iPhone 14 Plus went on sale in October last year, whereas the rest of the lineup was available soon after the launch.

iPhone 15 Pro Series: Specifications and Features (Leaked)

Apple’s Pro iPhone models are said to get some major upgrades over the non-Pro iPhones this year. The high-end iPhones will reportedly feature a titanium chassis. All four iPhones will sport a hole-punch cutout and a wide punch-hole cutout for the Dynamic Island. The 120Hz ProMotion display tech will remain exclusive to the Pro series this year as well.

Apple is likely to launch its Pro models with the new A17 Bionic SoC. The devices might launch with up to 8GB of RAM as well. Some rumours claim that the battery capacity will be slightly bigger than the outgoing models.

On the back, the iPhone 15 Pro series will reportedly feature a new Sony IMX9-series 48MP primary camera. It will be accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The 15 Pro is said to feature a 12MP telephoto camera, whereas the top-of-the-line 15 Pro Max will feature a 12MP periscope lens with up to 6x optical zoom. As expected, the setup will feature a LiDAR sensor and TrueTone flash. For selfies, there will be a 12MP front camera. The new iPhones will boot iOS 17 out of the box.
