  • Medieval city-builder Manor Lords smashes Steam records, becoming a top seller and reaching the eleventh most-played title.
  • Manor Lords outshone veteran strategy games, surpassing all-time peak players except for Mount & Blade II.

Manor Lords, a genre-melding medieval strategy game, has captivated players on Steam by becoming the most anticipated title with over three million wishlists. Developed by Greg Styczeń of Slavic Magic and published by Hooded Horse, the game offers a unique blend of city-building, real-time tactics, and intricate economic and social simulations.

Launched in Early Access on April 26th, Manor Lords saw a rapid surge in player interest on Steam. The title surpassed 1 million copies sold within its first day of Early Access on Steam, alongside an impressive peak concurrent player count of 170,000. With a record-breaking peak for city builders on Steam, Manor Lords is quickly building a loyal following in Early Access.

Steam charts reveal that only fellow medieval sim Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has ever reached a higher peak player count. Steam’s data doesn’t encompass players on the Epic Games Store, GOG, and Xbox Game Pass, suggesting that Manor Lords’ popularity extends beyond the platform.

Manor Lords is currently Steam’s top-selling title, and its popularity extends far beyond its category. It landed at number 11 among the platform’s most-played titles, edging out established giants like Apex Legends (in terms of 24-hour peak count). This meteoric rise positions Manor Lords as the latest mid-priced triumph in 2024, following the footsteps of Pocket Pair’s Palworld and Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2.

Interestingly, this trend coincides with some high-budget, $70 titles like Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones haven’t quite captured the same level of player enthusiasm.
