Microsoft has now launched its Copilot app on the Apple App Store, which is accessible on both iPhones and iPads. The company had recently released the Copilot app for Android, bringing its AI-powered Assistant to smartphones.

Earlier, Copilot’s services were only available in the Bing app on smartphones. Introducing a dedicated app helps Microsoft place Copilot place next to ChatGPT, which has millions of installations on Android and iOS.

The biggest advantage of Copilot is that it lets you access GPT-4 for free, unlike ChatGPT which is limited to GPT-3.5 unless you get a paid subscription. Copilot also provides limited access to DALL-E 3, which can generate images from text using AI.

The user interface of Microsoft’s Copilot app is simple and similar to ChatGPT. Users can provide textual input or use voice commands to get responses to any queries. Copilot can also connect to the internet if you choose to use GPT-4. However, the app has a certain limit on the number of GPT-4 responses.

The Copilot app on Android and iOS also allows users to provide input using images. The app can either use the camera of your phone or analyze images saved in your gallery. ChatGPT does not offer this functionality in the free version.

Microsoft’s push in rebranding its AI Assistant from Bing Chat to Copilot, and then bringing dedicated apps for Android and iOS suggests that the company is following a similar approach as OpenAI.

Microsoft has also integrated Copilot in Office 365, where users can harness the power of AI in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any other Office app. It can also be configured for Business Chat, where Copilot can help users organize their contacts, meeting schedules, documents, and more.

Copilot is also accessible on desktop at its dedicated domain copilot.microsoft.com. Hence, Microsoft’s AI bot is now available on almost every device like Windows computers, Macs, iPhones, and Android smartphones. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft tries to monetize Copilot with a paid subscription.
