91Mobiles reveals that the upcoming Redmi smartphone will be the last device from the brand in 2023. Xiaomi is tipped to debut the Redmi Note 13 series smartphone in January in India similar to its predecessors. The forthcoming Redmi smartphone will be the successor to the Redmi 12C, which debuted in December 2022 in India. The Redmi 12C and the global variant of 13C sports the same MediaTek Helio G85 SoC.
The report adds that the upcoming Redmi device will be positioned between the Redmi A2 series and Redmi Note 12 series smartphones. Xiaomi is tipped to equip the smartphone with the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC for the Indian market. The Helio G99 chipset offers a better performance in comparison to the Helio G85 SoC. However, both chipsets don’t provide support for 5G connectivity.
The Helio G99 chipset is built on a 6nm process and features two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. The upcoming Redmi 13C smartphone is tipped to debut in December in India. Other specifications of the smartphones will be similar to the global model.
Xiaomi debuted the smartphone in Nigeria at Nigerian Naira 98,100 (approx. Rs 10,200) for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. The higher variants with 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB configurations are priced at Nigerian Naira 108,100 (approx. Rs 11,200) and Nigerian Naira 121,100 (approx.. Rs 12,500). Xiaomi is likely to price the smartphone under Rs 12,000 in India for the base variant.
