Lenovo-owned Motorola is no stranger to introducing new technologies in smartphones. Now, the Motorola Edge X is said to be the first phone that will debut with two sensors — a new 200MP ISOCELL camera sensor from Samsung, and a 0.61 micrometer sensor from Omnivision with 50MP resolution. The same was confirmed by Chen Jin, the general manager of Lenovo China, on Weibo, along with the fact that the smartphone will also be one of the first in the world to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship processor and is set to release before December 16. It’s unclear when the phone will come to India, or whether it will make its way here in the first place.
Motorola Edge X world’s firsts
The first world’s first here is in the fact that the Motorola Edge X will feature Samsung’s upcoming 200MP ISOCELL sensor. This tip had also come from leakster Ice Universe on Twitter yesterday. It’s an aberration from the norm, since Samsung’s top camera sensors are usually adopted by Xiaomi before everyone else. It seems Lenovo made a better deal this time.
200MP camera will be adopted by Moto first, then by Xiaomi in the second half of next year, and by 2023, Samsung will adopt 200MP.

On the other hand, the Omnivision OV50A sensor will also make its debut on the Motorola Edge X. The sensors is the world’s first smartphone camera sensor to feature 0.61 micrometer pixel size. “The 50A is an excellent quality flagship sensor with a large base, and we’re taking the lead this time, while the 60A is the top flagship sensor with a front-facing camera between now and next year. The upgrade, it is indisputable that this will be Motorola’s most anticipated camera system,” Jin said on Weibo.
Motorola Edge X specs and features
Camera and processor aside, the Motorola Edge X is also supposed to feature a 6.67 inch OLED display with full-HD resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. It is also expected to have LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship, which was formerly said to be the Snapdragon 898, before Qualcomm announced its new nomenclature standards.
It has three camera on the back and a teardrop camera on the front.
