iPhone 15 series launch event is expected to take place in September 2023 as it has been for all past iPhones. And reports up until now have suggested that Apple is looking to launch four different iPhone models this year. While the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be the two affordable variant, the 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max which could also replaced by an Ultra moniker are expected to be the two upper variants.
While there were reports of the iPhone 15 Pro series featuring design changes, the recently leaked CAD renders revealed that not much will be different from the current generation of the iPhone 14 series. Along with the recently leaked CAD renders of the iPhone 15 Pro models, a new report from 9to5Mac citing 3D artist Ian Zelbo has revealed the designs of the vanilla iPhone 15 variant. Let’s take a look at the iPhone 15 CAD images, specifications and other details known so far.
iPhone 15 CAD Images Show USB Type-C Port, Dynamic Island
The upcoming iPhone 15 will be the cheapest of the new iPhones coming in September. The new CAD images of the upcoming 2023 iPhone have leaked online. The report by 9to5Mac shows that the the biggest noticeable change in the upcoming iPhone is at the bottom panel. Apple is finally moving to an USB Type-C port instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning Port. Apple confirmed that it will comply with the EU law, which makes it mandatory for phones and many electronic items to feature a standard USB Type-C port. Although a recent report has suggested that Apple will not allow any and every USB Type-C cables will work with the iPhone and it wants to support cables that are MFI-certified.
The camera bump on the back is expected to be thicker like we saw in the previous iPhone 15 Pro renders as well. While the 15 Pro is likely to feature a 48MP triple-camera setup, Apple might introduce the device with larger camera sensors. There is the LiDAR sensor and an LED flash as well.
The volume rockers on the 15 Pro seemed like capacitive buttons instead of mechanical ones and the case seems similar with the vanilla variant. Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the upcoming iPhone Pro models could go buttonless. The new CAD images also show that the iPhone 15 will feature the Dynamic Island feature that was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro last year. The Dynamic Island on the front will apparently feature the same 48MP camera seen in last year’s models.
