Nothing Phone (1) will become the first smartphone in India to get Jio True 5G support. While the smartphone already supports Airtel 5G, the company is now rolling out an OTA (over-the-air) update, enabling Jio True 5G support. With this update, Nothing will beat phones from Apple, Google, OPPO, Samsung, Xiaomi and more to roll out 5G support for both Airtel and Jio. Talking about 5G bands, Nothing Phone (1) supports n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, and n78, or, to say, all 5G bands.

MySmartPrice got a tip from one of our trusted sources that Nothing has started rolling out an update for its first and only smartphone, the Phone (1), which will enable Jio True 5G. But, it’s worth mentioning that users will have to wait for the telecom operator (Jio, in this case) to roll out the 5G network widely. Some Phone (1) users tweeted that they had received the new update that enabled Jio True 5G support. Our source tells us that the update is out for only 10% of users at the moment, while everyone should have it before Diwali.
Some companies announced they would roll out their 5G compatibility update at the end of the year and then there is @nothing

It’s worth noting that Reliance Jio is currently available in select cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi.
Nothing Phone (1) received a major update last month, bumping the software to Nothing OS 1.1.4, bringing major improvements to the camera department, and fixing some bugs. For those unaware, Nothing Phone (1) launched in July this year at a starting price of Rs 32,999. But, the smartphone is now available at as low as Rs 26,999 during the Flipkart Big Diwali Sale, including bank offers. The company recently revealed that it sold over 100K units in India within 20 days of the sale, which is a feat for a new brand.
Why existing 5G smartphones not supporting the 5G network in India?
First, it’s worth noting that most 5G devices are compatible with Airtel 5G and Jio True 5G. However, some devices may require an over-the-air software update, making the phone 5G-ready. OEM and telecom operators are working closely to ensure these updates are made available at the earliest so that users can experience 5G.
PM Modi formally rolled out 5G services in India on October 1, with Airtel and Jio revealing their timelines for 5G availability and setting up demo booths for the 5G network.
When is 5G support coming for Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and more phones?
Apple has confirmed that the 5G update for iPhone 12 and above will be available in India by December. On the other hand, Samsung has rolled out Airtel 5G support for its premium smartphones, while it will rollout 5G support for other Galaxy phones by mid-November. Xiaomi has also confirmed that firmware OTA updates for its devices enabling 5G should be out by Diwali.
