OnePlus might be working on a speaker for the Indian market, and the first time that we have come to know about it is by the brand itself. Without revealing any details, OnePlus has shared a teaser of its upcoming device on the social media platform Instagram. The teaser has the tagline, “The wonder of music meets the power of tech.”
The speaker itself seems to sport a transparent design, which is not new (basically every Nothing product follows this design principle). However, when launched, this could be the first device in OnePlus’ portfolio to come with such a design. Also, the device could mark its entry into the speaker segment as OnePlus has so far stuck to wireless earbuds as well as earphones in the audio category.

Given that OnePlus has not shared much, it leaves room for speculation. For instance, will the new device be a smart speaker, the drivers of which will come integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Given the tech world has seen an AI boom over the past year or so, the idea does seem plausible, especially more so because of the tagline that hints at ‘the power of tech’.
Smart speakers come integrated with voice assistants that can perform various actions on voice commands, and AI enhances their capabilities.
Apart from this, the design of the speaker is an interesting aspect. Going by the teaser, which has been posted via the OnePlus India account, it looks like OnePlus has decided to go with a transparent design for its new speaker. The teaser video also reveals the mechanics of inside the speaker and woofer placement as well.
Nothing, which is a London-based technology company follows the transparent design for its products. Nothing Phone 1, Phone (2), its audio products, and even its USB Type-C cables feature a see-through design that reveals the inner mechanics of a device. However, it could be a first on any OnePlus device.
Interestingly, OnePlus and Nothing have another thing in common – their co-founder is the same. To give a perspective, Nothing has been co-founded by Carl Pei, who also co-founded OnePlus along with Pete Lau. Pei left OnePlus in October 2022 to start his own company Nothing.
As of now, the OnePlus speaker has only been teased as ‘Coming Soon’ and a specific launch timeline has not been revealed. However, it looks like the company is making great efforts to make the device known to people. OnePlus also put out a full-page advertisement (spotted by India Today) in India’s leading daily newspaper, Times of India with a teaser image of the speaker. “Got the music in you? The wonder of music meets the power of tech,” it reads.
Now, the details of the OnePlus speaker might be unclear at this point, but we know that the company is gearing up to launch its OnePlus 12 series smartphones pretty soon. In fact, the company itself has confirmed several details of the OnePlus series such as an X1 OLED 2K resolution display, manufactured by BOE, a new Sony-LYTIA camera sensor, and more.
