The HyperTone Camera System consists of three components: HyperTone All Main Camera System, HyperTone Image Engine, and HyperTone ProXDR Display. This complete hardware setup ensures an end-to-end redesign in imaging. It will also utilize stack pixel technology as found on the latest OPPO Find N3.

The system will also include an Extra HD algorithm, which will improve image clarity by 30%, and reduce noise in images by over 60%. The algorithm will utilize AI RAW Fusion, which requires almost 400% higher computing power.

For reference, OPPO also has its custom MariSilicon X NPU, designed for image processing. It was first used on the OPPO Find X6 Series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. OPPO is expected to continue its development alongside its Hasselblad partnership.

Another important aspect of the HyperTone Camera System is the display of the device. Devices with HyperTone will will feature a ProXDR Display which is capable of offering eight times higher dynamic range while balancing natural colour tones on the screen.

The HyperTone Image Engine will improve the post-processing of images in areas like portrait shots. Hasselblad portrait images will create a three-dimensional image that will avoid over-brightening the face while smoothening the shadows. It will create a cinematic bokeh effect to mimic the optical out-of-focus effect on the background.

OPPO says that the first device with the HyperTone Camera System will be launched in 2024. The company has announced that the system will debut with the OPPO Find Series. Given OPPO’s past timeline, we can expect the OPPO Find X7 Series to feature OPPO-Hasselblad’s HyperTone Camera System.

As the joint venture progresses, we can expect more devices from OPPO and even OnePlus to feature the new camera system.
