Earlier this year, a rumor out of China had suggested that Vivo would be launching the world’s first smartphone with 10GB of RAM by the end of 2018. The same rumor had revealed that Vivo’s sister brand OPPO also plans to launch a smartphone with 10GB of RAM before the end of the year. While no evidence of a Vivo smartphone with 10GB of RAM has surfaced on the web yet, an OPPO Find X variant with 10GB of RAM has been spotted on the TENAA website.
OPPO Find X: 10GB RAM Variant Launching Soon?
As you can see in the screenshot below, TENAA certified the 10GB RAM + 256GB storage variant of the OPPO Find X yesterday, i.e. September 26. This suggests OPPO may soon introduce a 10GB RAM variant of its flagship Find X smartphone in the Chinese market. Since no other smartphone maker has announced a smartphone with 10GB of RAM yet, there is a good chance that the new Find X variant might well be the world’s first smartphone to be equipped with 10GB of RAM. However, it remains to be seen if adding 10GB of RAM to a smartphone will actually help improve user experience.
OPPO Find X: Specifications, Features
The OPPO Find X comes equipped with a large 6.42-inch Panoramic Arc AMOLED display featuring 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Unlike most 2018 flagship smartphones, there is no notch at the top of the Find X’s display. Instead, OPPO uses a motorized sliding top module that houses the front and rear-facing cameras to achieve class-leading screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. The top-end variant of the smartphone currently features 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The pop-up camera module features a 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear and an impressive 25MP selfie snapper on the front. OPPO Find X is also the first flagship smartphone from the company to come with 3D Facial Recognition technology similar to Face ID used by Apple. Connectivity-wise, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C port, and 4G VoLTE. The standard variant of the Find X packs a 3730mAh capacity battery, while the Super Flash Edition with Super VOOC Flash Charge technology comes with a smaller 3400mAh capacity battery. In terms of software, the Find X runs on ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
