Oppo‘s spin-off brand Realme has unveiled the successor of its popular Realme 3 series. As we anticipated, the company skipped the number four as it is considered inauspicious in the Sino culture. The refreshed line-up comprises of the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones. These new budget handsets bring some interesting features to the table including the quad-camera setup, which is mostly reserved for more expensive phones. Other details are as follows:
Realme 5 Pro Specifications
The Realme 5 Pro sports a 6.3-inch IPS (In-Plane Switching) display. Compared to the regular LCDs, IPS panels offer wide viewing angles and rich colors. With the Full HD+ resolution, the Realme 5 Pro’s screen is quite sharp. At the core of the handset is a Snapdragon 712 chip. The more affordable among the duo, the Realme 5 comes with a larger 6.5-inch display. However, as opposed to the Full HD+ panel on the Pro version, the Realme 5 settles for an HD+ resolution. Thankfully, this one too is an IPS screen, which means you get wide viewing angles and good color reproduction. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 chipset. The phone comes with 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. Depending on the model, you get the internal storage of 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.
The Realme 5 sports a quad-camera assembly. It comes in 12 MP +8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP configuration. For selfies, the phone offers a 13 MP front-facing shooter. The handset covers all the essential connectivity features including 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The highlight is its 5,000 mAh battery with VOOC 3.0.

The Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro will be up for purchase via Flipkart. The base model of the Realme 5 features 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage and it costs INR 9,999. Then, there’s a 4 GB RAM version with 64 GB storage, and it comes with a price tag of INR 10,999. The top model offers 4GB RAM and 128 GB storage — this one costs INR 11,999. With the prices starting from Rs 9,999, the Realme 5 takes Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 head-on.
The Realme 5 Pro also comes in three variants — 4 GB + 64 GB, 6 GB + 64 GB, and 6 GB + 128 GB. As you would have already guessed, this handset competes with the Redmi Note 7 Pro with the base model priced at Rs 13,999. The middle variant costs INR 14,999. And the top of the line variant comes with a price tag of INR 16,999.
