Last week, the Realme 9i made headlines as the device was spotted on Geekbench, and a day prior to that, the device, alongside Realme 9 Pro Plus, made its appearance on Indonesia Telecom and China Quality Certification (CQC) websites. The Realme 9i also appeared on AliExpress, just a day before Christmas and by the end of 2021, it was quite obvious that the phone will launch soon. However, now the device has been officially teased and it looks like the phone will launch first in Vietnam before any other regions, including bigger markets like China and India. According to popular tipster Abhishek Yadav, the launch will take place on January 10.
Realme 9i will come with a triple-camera setup
The teaser of the phone reveals a bit about the design, especially the back and it is quite similar to that of the Realme GT Neo2 with the rectangular camera bump housing the three camera sensors alongside the LED flash. However, from the teaser, we still can’t know everything but we surely know that the phone will be offering a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded onto the power button.

As of now, not much is known through official channels. However, the earlier appearance of the phone on Geekbench and AliExpress revealed a lot of the specifications of the Realme 9i. The Geekbench listing had already revealed that the phone is being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM, carrying the model number RMX3491. The phone was also seen running Android 11 out of the box with Realme UI 2.0 on top. The phone will come only with 4G as the chipset doesn’t offer 5G connectivity.

However, the AliExpress listing revealed a lot more. According to the listing, the Realme 9i comes with a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The listing also revealed a full HD display and from earlier leaks, we are already aware that the phone will offer up to a 90Hz refresh rate.
If the AliExpress listing is correct, we can expect a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, via USB-C. However, we may not see a 3.5mm headphone jack on the Realme 9i. So, for now, we know quite a bit about the phone and it will be interesting to see if Realme comes with a variant of Realme 9i with more RAM and storage. Also, as of now, it is known that the phone will come in two colour variants- Black and Blue. We are keeping an eye on further developments ahead of launch and will share updates regarding the pricing and availability once it is officially launched.
