Redmi has confirmed the launch of a new budget smartphone. The company will launch the Redmi 12C as its new budget smartphone globally. The smartphone was launched on December 31 in China as one of the most affordable smartphones in the country. The 12C is now ready to hit the global markets soon. XIaomi will launch the Redmi smartphone first in Indonesia. The device is expected to hit the Indian shores soon.
Ahead of the official launch, Redmi has teased some key features of the 12C. The company has shared the front and rear panel design of the phone as well. Let’s take a look at the Redmi 12C specifications, features and other details known so far.
Redmi 12C Global Launch: What is Known So Far
The Redmi 12C is set to make its global debut on March 9. The budget smartphone from Redmi is expected to launch soon in India. Ahead of the launch, Redmi revealed the front and rear panel design of the phone. The device is similar to the Chinese variant. The images tease the blue and black colour variants of the phone.
On the front, there is a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. The chin bezel is slightly thick in comparison. The camera module on the back is quite huge. It has a single camera sensor, a dummy cutout, an LED flash and a fingerprint scanner.
The 12C global variant is said to be the same as the Chinese variant. This means that the phone will launch with a 6.71-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 1650×720 pixels. The display has a 20.5:9 aspect ratio and offers 500 nits of peak brightness.
Under the hood, there is a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. The chipset is paired with a Mali-G52 GPU, LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. The device also comes with an option for storage expansion up to 512GB via a microSD card.

The 12C has a single speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes with a hybrid SIM slot and a micro-USB port. The phone packs a beefy 5000mAh battery with 10W charging support. It measures 168.76 x 76.41 x 8.7mm and is 192 grams heavy.
The device has a 50MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera sensor. It runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box.
