After shipping 72 million Redmi Note devices in India since 2014, Xiaomi is readying to launch the ‘Supernote‘, the next iteration in one of India’s most popular smartphone lineup. In a detailed note, Xiaomi India revealed it is bringing its most powerful smartphone under the lineup yet, one with less ads in the UI and high-end hardware, spoiling the party of the Realme 10 Pro series which itself is under severe criticism for showing obscene app recommendations.

While the note shared by Xiaomi did not reveal a launch date, nor the models and their respective features, noted tipster Mukul Sharma has spilled the beans. The Redmi Note 12 series, aka the Supernote, will launch in India on January 5. He also revealed some more details around the smartphone. Let’s take a look.

Redmi Note 12 Series Launch Date Leaked

The Supernote that the Xiaomi India team is hyping up on social media is the Redmi Note 12 series. The series will include the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+.

All three smartphones will be launched in India on January 5, according to the tipster. And all three smartphones will be 5G ready, right on time for users to enjoy the 5G networks going live in India.

The tipster also revealed that the top of the line model, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G will feature a massive 200 megapixel primary camera, which will be making its debut for the first time at that price range in India.

While no other details have been revealed about the Redmi Note 12 series from the tipster, the Xiaomi team has subtly confirmed a few more things. For one, the Redmi Note 12 series will include OIS in the camera for the first time. The company is also putting in efforts to reduce UI-related monetisation.

After criticism, the company will also introduce fewer models in the lineup, with “each standing tall in its segment”. This will likely reduce confusion regarding the series, something that has been a complaint from users and critics this year about the Redmi Note 11 series.
