During the launch of the Redmi Note 8 series of smartphones, Xiaomi released the rollout schedule for its latest MIUI 11 update for the series. As per the schedule, the Redmi Note 8 Pro was supposed to be the last device to get a stable build update for the MIUI 11 skin. Since then, the company has released the update for 27 of its devices, and finally, the Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones have started receiving it as well. Let’s have a look at all the new features the MIUI 11 update brings on the table for the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices.

Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 11 update brings VoWiFi calling and app drawer features to the device

After the MIUI 11 update, the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices get features like an optional app drawer, new app icons, new animations, new sounds inspired from nature, and more. What’s more interesting is the Voice Over Wi-Fi feature, or VoWiFi as we call it, coming up to the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices. The VoWiFi feature is gradually getting popular in the country as companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have started rolling it out to more regions in the country lately.

One of the prime highlights of the MIUI 11 update was the native dark mode, but since the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices shipped with the dark mode out of the box, the MIUI 11 update won’t bring a lot of aesthetic changes in that department. That said, the new Video Wallpaper feature is finally available to the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices too now.

The update also brings the Mi share and Mi File Manager app which has native support for opening/previewing documents. The Game Turbo and Mi Notes apps have also got certain improvements. Last, but not the least, the MIUI 11 update for the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices comes with the latest November security patch. Sadly, the update is still baked on top of Android 9 Pie, and it is worth to see as to when the Redmi Note 8 Pro devices will start receiving the Android 10 update. It seems like the Redmi K20 Pro will be the only device from the company that will enter 2020 with Android 10 running on top of MIUI 11.

The MIUI 11 update for the Redmi Note 8 Pro weighs in at 602MB. You, therefore, would require a stable internet connection to download the update. Furthermore, it is always advisable to take a backup of your essential/sensitive data before updating your device. The update has started hitting every Redmi Note 8 Pro device, and if you still have not received any notification for the same, you can go to your device settings, check for updates, and download the OTA update from there.

Speaking of the specifications of the device, the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes powered with a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset which is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage with scope for further expansion with the help of an external SD card. The device sports a 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch at the top. For the photographers out there, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a quad rear camera setup (64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP) and a 20MP selfie snapper at the front. The Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 4500 mAh battery with support for fast charging.
