Samsung, back in 2022, unveiled its XCover series smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro. The company now appears to be prepping up to launch a new rugged smartphone under the XCover series – the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7. In the latest development, the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 official renders have surfaced on the web, courtesy of Android Headlines.

The Android Headline report claims that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 has the model number SM-G556B and may not be a successor of the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro. Instead, it might be a successor to the Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 which was unveiled in 2021. Let us take a closer look at the details.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Xcover 7, similar to previous generation XCover series smartphones, will feature a rugged build. The smartphone will offer a durable sturdy build with raised corners for shock absorption. The XCover 7 is expected to feature a MIL-STD-810H-compliant build with drop-to-concrete resistance. We can also expect it to offer IP68 dust and water resistance.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7’s rear panel appears to have grooved design and is removable, as per the report. This means that the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 will feature a removable battery. However, the report doesn’t talk about the battery capacity and charging speed of the handset.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 display panel has thick bezels, but this is something expected with a rugged smartphone. The display panel appears to be housing the front shooter inside a waterdrop-shaped notch. Apart from it, the report doesn’t reveal anything about the Galaxy XCover 7’s display panel. However, we can expect Samsung to offer the Glove Touch feature with the XCover 7.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 will offer a single rear camera with a red accent ring around it. The previous generation XCover series smartphone – the XCover 6 Pro offers a dual-rear camera setup. This also suggests that the XCover 7 might not be a successor of the XCover 6 Pro.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 will offer a customizable XCover key with a red accent colour which is housed along the left edge. This can be used to perform a specific task such as opening apps, barcode scanning, push to talk, and more. The volume rockers and the power button on the handset are housed along the right edge.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7, as per another leak, might to be a rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G. The handset is expected to cost lesser than the Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro which is priced at $599.
