  • People travelling through trains can get food delivered to their seats via the IRCTC app.
  • Swiggy will use special insulated bags to ensure that the food remains warm while delivering food on trains.

Swiggy has officially partnered with IRCTC to start food delivery services for passengers directly on railway trains. The service will be available in Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Vishakhapatnam, and Vijayawada, starting March 12, 2024. Here are the details.

Order Food From Swiggy Directly on the Train

Swiggy’s food delivery services on trains will only be available for passengers with a valid PNR number. You will have to enter your PNR number in the IRCTC app and select the railway station where you want to get their food delivered. The IRCTC app will then show all of Swiggy’s partner restaurants in the region.

You can choose the restaurant of your choice and place the orders accordingly. The food will be directly delivered to your train’s seat by a Swiggy delivery agent. Swiggy also mentioned that the food delivered to passengers will be packed in insulated bags to keep it warm and fresh. The company will also provide additional training to its delivery partners to ensure that they reach the railway station on time.

Swiggy Is Not the Only One to Board the Train!

Swiggy isn’t the only one to deliver food on trains. It is worth noting that Zomato was one of the first direct food delivery services on trains. Although the facility is only available in select regions, the wide variety of partner restaurants on Swiggy and Zomato expands the catering options for railway passengers.

We expect the services by both Zomato and Swiggy to see expansion. The latter has announced plans to expand its food deliveries to 59 additional stations across India in the coming weeks.

The best part about the service is that passengers with a waiting list ticket can also get food delivered to their coach. In addition to Swiggy and Zomato, the IRCTC also has other food chains as partners such as RailRestro, Dominos, Haldirams, and many others. Passengers can choose any of these services from the IRCTC app.
