Apple is likely to launch new iPads this week according to the latest report.

The latest report from Supercharged, corroborated by further by 9to5Mac, states that Apple is hosting an iPad-focused event later this week. According to the report, the new iPads will be launched on October 17. The report further states that the Cupertino-based tech giant will refresh the base model iPad, iPad Mini, and iPad Air this week. Considering that Apple does launch new iPads a month after the new iPhone launch, the report seems to be true. Notably, Apple launched the baseline iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Models on September 12.

The Supercharged report suggests that Apple will launch the new iPads this week with an upgraded processor. For the uninitiated, the brand launched the current-generation iPad Air last year with an M1 chipset. The iPad Mini comes with the A15 Bionic SoC, whereas the base model iPad has the A14 Bionic processor.

If the report is to be believed, the iPad Air will get the updated M2 chipset, the iPad Mini will launch with the A16 Bionic, and lastly, the base iPad will also get the same A16 Bionic SoC. A recent report suggested that the iPad Mini will also get a new display controller to address the jelly scrolling issue on the current generation iPad Mini.

But the popular Apple analyst Mark Gurman has contradicted the report in his latest Power On newsletter. According to Gurman, while Apple is indeed working on new iPads they won’t arrive before the year’s end. The same prediction has also been made by yet another popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

It remains to be seen whether Apple will follow the pattern and launch new iPads this week or deviate from the pattern and launch new iPads later this year. The Supercharged report suggests that if Apple does launch new iPads this week, it will more likely be through a press release on its website.
