Airtel Adds More Than 10 Million 5G Plus Unique Users in Five Months

Airtel launches 5G Plus services in four new cities of J&K.

Highlights
  1. Airtel crosses 10 million customers in its 5G Plus network.
  2. Airtel is providing 5G Plus services in more than 150 cities.
  3. Airtel added four new cities in Jammu & Kashmir.

Even though Airtel is a bit slow in terms of launching 5G in new cities, it has managed to add more than 10 million unique users to the newly launched network. This announcement comes after three months, as back in November the telco crossed one million 5G users. The 5G Plus services have been announced in October last year. Currently, it is available in more than 150 cities, including metros and tier II cities.

Notably, the company plans to cover 300 cities by the end of March 2023, whereas it is eyeing to cover the entire country by the end of March 2024. Meanwhile, the telco said that its network is dependent on technology that is widely accepted by other countries. Plus, its network offers 30 times faster speed than the 4G network and comes with a special power reduction solution.

Reliance Jio True 5G Services In India

On the other hand, India’s largest telecom player, Reliance Jio launched True 5G services in 277 cities and plans to offer services in all cities by the end of this year. However, the telco has not shared the 5G users numbers in the country, while Vodafone-Idea is only providing 4G services and has no plans to bring 5G services into the country any time soon due to the financial crisis. The telco is losing customers every month. In fact, Vi lost 2.47 million customers in December last year, while Airtel and Jio added 1.53 million and 1.70 million new users in the same month.
