The Apple Vision Pro is undoubtedly a technological marvel on multiple fronts, but it has a few shortcomings too. One such issue is related to the situation when a user ends up forgetting the Vision Pro passcode. There is currently no way to reset the passcode without resetting Vision Pro. To make it worse, users have to visit a nearby Apple Store for reset. The good thing is Apple fixing this situation with a new software update.

Apple has released visionOS 1.1 beta that brings the ability to reset Vision Pro when the passcode is forgotten. As reported by 9to5Mac, users will see a new system alert after entering the wrong passcode multiple times.

The alert says, “This Apple Vision Pro is in security lockout. You can wait and try your passcode again, or you can erase and reset this Apple Vision Pro now.”

This will allow users to perform a Vision Pro reset without visiting an Apple Store. It is important to note that doing so will result in a complete wipe of data and installed apps from the device. Another thing to remember is that Vision Pro supports Activation Lock.

It means you will not be able to re-activate Vision Pro until you enter the Apple ID password with which it was initially set up. This is to prevent unauthorized access, especially if someone steals your Vision Pro or tries to reset it by intentionally entering the wrong passcode.

visionOS 1.1 beta: What’s New?

As per discoveries made so far, visionOS 1.1 beta does not seem to be loaded with a lot of changes. One change is that users can now bring virtual items closer than before. This change will make it easier direct interaction with those items and is particularly beneficial for VR games.

Persona has received improvement in the latest visionOS 1.1 beta. Users are asked to re-capture their Personas after the beta update installation but it can also be done later. The new versions are said to be more life-like and detailed than the original version.

For the uninitiated, Persona is a virtual representation of a user when attending video calls through Vision Pro. It is capable of real-time facial expression and hand movement tracking. It also captures your eyes during the creation process, which is visible to people nearby through the external display.

Lastly, the Vision Pro now supports Mobile Device Management (MDM). It makes it easier for businesses and educational institutes to manage the Vision Pro for workplace members similar to iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
