Vivo Y12

Earlier this month, it was reported that Vivo was launching a new smartphone called the Vivo Y12 in India. Based on the assumed specifications and rumored pricing details, it was clear that the phone was intended to prevail more in the offline market space. It was expected that the phone would go on sale early in June, but it evidently took Vivo some time to get the handset ready. Well, the phone is now indeed up for grabs via offline stores and can even be purchased online through Amazon.

According to 91mobiles, the Vivo Y12 will be available in two storage options – 4GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 3GB RAM + 64GB storage. Strangely enough, both of these storage variants are said to have been priced at INR 12,490. For some reason, only the 4GB RAM model of Vivo Y12 is available for purchase via Amazon India right now. The phone is offered in two color options, namely Aqua Blue and Burgundy Red.

Vivo Y12 Specifications

The display on the Vivo Y12 measures in at 6.53-inches and bears a resolution of 720 x 1544 pixels. This so-called Halo FullView display gets a V-shaped notch at the top that has allowed Vivo to achieve a 19.3:9 aspect ratio and an 89 percent screen-to-body ratio. The back of the phone presumably makes use of a plastic panel but does feature a modern-looking gradient finish. Here, you will also find a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

At the heart of the Vivo Y12 we have a mid-range MediaTek Helio P22 chipset that has a 2.0GHz octa-core CPU. For software, we have Android 9 Pie running with Funtouch OS 9 baked on top. This phone is said to have an ‘Ultra-Game Mode’ which allows games to run smoother by experiencing reduced frame drops.

Rear imaging on the Vivo Y12 is handled by a triple camera setup. The primary camera here is a 13MP sensor. Next up is an 8Mp wide-angle shooter that has a 120-degree field of view. The final camera is a2MP depth sensor that assists with portrait shots with bokeh effects. The selfie camera at the front of the phone gets an 8MP resolution.

The battery on this phone measures a massive 5000mAh. Charging takes place over a standard microUSB port. You get dual-SIM support along with microSD card storage expansion. It hasn’t been specified if this is a triple card tray, so it is safe to assume the phone makes use of a hybrid card slot.
