The Y93 is the latest Vivo smartphone to sport a Halo FullView display. It also happens to be the first Vivo smartphone to run on a Snapdragon 439 12nm processor.

Vivo Y93

Vivo today quietly introduced a new Y-series Android smartphone in China, dubbed Y93. The latest addition to the Y-series family is the company’s first smartphone to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 mobile platform. In terms of design, the latest Vivo smartphone bears a striking resemblance to the company’s recent V-series smartphones.

Vivo Y93 Price, Availability

The Vivo Y93 has been priced at 1,500 yuan (INR 15,900 approx.) in China and is now available for purchase from the Vivo online store in the country. It comes in two colors – Starry Night and Red. While there is no official confirmation from the company yet, there is certainly a chance of the Y93 making its way to the Indian market in the coming weeks. If Vivo prices it under INR 10,000 in India, the smartphone may prove to be quite successful among consumers in the offline segment.

Vivo Y93 Specifications, Features

The Vivo V93 sports a 6.2-inch LCD display with 720 x 1520 HD+ resolution and a tiny teardrop notch at the top. To make the smartphone more ergonomic, Vivo is using a 3D micro-arc design at the rear. Thanks to the gradient color options, the Y93 looks more premium than most other budget Android smartphones. It runs on an octa-core 12nm Snapdragon 439 processor clocked at 1.95 GHz with an Adreno 505 GPU. In the memory department, Vivo Y93 comes in a single memory configuration with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Like other Vivo smartphones, the Y93 offers a microSD card slot for further expansion up to 256GB.

Moving on to optics, the Vivo Y93 sports a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup at the rear with the main sensor coupled with an f/2.2 aperture and the secondary depth-sensor paired with an f/2.4 aperture. The primary 13MP snapper features phase-detection autofocus for fast focus speeds. While there is no AI scene detection, the smartphone does come with an AI-powered portrait mode. For selfies, the smartphone has an 8MP resolution snapper on the front with features like Face Wake, AI beautification, and AR stickers. Vivo’s AI beautification feature analyzes the user’s skin texture, skin color, and scene light to add customized beautification effects. The feature not only works for photos but also during video calls on WeChat. The smartphone’s Face Wake facial recognition feature is said to detect 1,024 unique features of the user’s face for higher security. Unfortunately, however, the Vivo Y93 does not come with a fingerprint sensor. This means Face Wake will be your only option to quickly unlock the smartphone.

Fueling the Vivo Y93 is a large 4030mAh capacity non-removable battery, which should be able to deliver impressive battery life. While the smartphone does not offer fast charging support, it does come with intelligent battery-saving features that help extend battery stamina. In terms of physical size, the Vivo Y93 measures 155.11 x 75.09 x 8.28mm and weighs 163.5 grams. On the software front, the Vivo Y93 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS out of the box. Similar to a few recent Vivo smartphones, the Y93 comes with the company’s Jovi AI assistant as well. You get the Game Mode feature as well, which ensures notifications do not ruin your gaming experience. You can even choose to chat with your friends during a gaming session, thanks to a tiny transparent keyboard. The feature can also optimize the CPU to deliver maximum graphics performance.
